I think alot of people will want Saddam dead, he’s just expressing his opinion of wanting him executed, you know, he did send a death squad to kill him, and they ended up axeing his leg up pretty bad.
Big deal, assasin for Saddam, CIA agent against the regime and person he didn’t like, doesn’t translate into him being the next dictator for life wannabe.
I have nothing but praise for him either, taking on a job which require alot of skill and optimism in a situation where theres daily attacks and kidnappings. Its not like he engineered the situation, or even just went ahead using the US military to level places he didn’t like, in Najaf and Fallujah, they’ve used repreated attempts at negotiation to bring the provinces into the government, but to no avail. The fact he hasn’t killed Sadr, or had him arrested, or tried to curtail numerous groups vying for power when elections come around, is a testimony to his efforts to bring around an elected government to Baghdad. Its his mandate too, if he destroyed that process, I think he’s be pretty much dead or in jail by now.
Apparently 42% of Iraqis would elect Saddam in this ‘democratic’ election … I think this is why Allawi wants to push ahead his ‘mock’ trial before January - to get Saddam out of the way as opposition. http://www.zaman.org/?bl=international&alt=&trh=20040921&hn=12424
Yea, sure, replacing one mass murderer with another is a good idea - the only difference between them is that Allawi is pro-American [for now, anyway]
Do you think the majority of Iraqis care if that piece of shit gets a mock trial, even though it isn’t? Even though an elected Government is the one which will organise and try him.
42% only want him back, the other 58% don’t plus, the 42% I bet are Sunnis, and they probably want him back to bring about the old privaledges and the security.
Laughable?? I think it’s laughable that you think it’s a good thing for Bush to have replaced Saddam with one of his former criminal sidekicks!! Did you even bother to read that article about his past http://www.envirosagainstwar.org/edit/index.php?op=view&itemid=1679
The people of Iraq certainly don’t want him - even as an interim leader
Where is the logic in Bush appointing the people that the Iraqis wanted least?
According to a poll, the majority of Iraqis want him to have a fair trial, though many people around the world feel that a fair trial will be difficult to achieve. I think it should be held in an International court.
Pretty laughable. Since his mandate is only to be there until the end of January, plus, if we wanted him to be the next Saddam, I think we’d have a national, widespread extremely popular uprising on our hands.
