At least they declare war on democracy and the people who practice it, so it’s a war against people rather than just a war against an abstract concept. (I’m not glad they declared war on us, just glad that their doing so somewhat preserves the definition of the word war).
The headline of my local paper was “Al-Zarquwi declares war on the Iraq vote” which is even worse. Declaring war on an event :rolleyes:

Anyway, kuos to Mr. al-Zarqawi, who appears to have pulled off the difficult trick of shooting himself in the foot while said foot is firmly planted in his mouth. If only that weren’t metaphorical.
I don’t understand! I drank the Kool-Aid and listen to the lefties, and I gather that the noble insurgents are the Iraqi version of ‘Minutemen’, veritable freedom-fighters seeking to oust a hideous occupier so they can live in peace under a open and liberal goverment!
Someone should tell Al-Zarquwi that even in a democracy, if it is the will of the people, you can elect religious nutcases to power to inflict god’s will on the people. I’ve heard of this happening before.

No, I don’t think you have listened at all. Perhaps you can point to a thread where members of this board have expressed broad support; hell, any any instance at all where a single member of this board has expressed support for al-Zarqawi, who is the person under discussion here.
I originally read it in San Diego’s Union Tribune, but I just slapped the first link I could google in the OP, so I don’t know where else it may appear.
Ah, Zarqawi and the noble freedom-loving insurgents are two seperate entities, may never the two meet!? Consider my ignorance fought! And here I was, laboring under the delusion that Zarqawi was a figure of some importance with the insurgents (who just want to be rid of their dread American oppressors!). Pffft.
