And they’re none too sure about Wilhelm.
It’s dangerous to make this just about Rush Limbaugh and about Scylla’s whorish daughters. Every conservative must confront their own moral decrepitude in supporting the “women’s medical care is only for people who are sluts, which is evil” attitude. Don’t let the focus on one person distract you from the fact that an entire political party and religion in America is built on punishing women for the sin of being women.
I don’t doubt that kids may have heard of the scandal. What I doubt is that kids would say, paraphrased, “I’m going to call you a slut because that old guy on the radio said girls who use birth control are slutty!” It reads to me like someone wanting to tie a story back to Rush, to demonstrate that he, and he alone, is responsible for this attack.
If the story were, “Mean girls call my daughter a slut,” I would believe it. When it’s “Mean girls quote a drug-addled old fat guy who is utterly unappealing to young people” I get suspicious.
You could be right. IIRC, the first American company that offered employees health insurance was Kaiser. Coincidence?
The state of Missouri is going to honor Limbaugh alongside Mark Twain, Walter Cronkite and Dred Scott!

Apparently Speaker Tilley believes that Limbaugh deserves the same level of honor as Dred Scott.
You can’t make this shit up.
I was going to ask you guys what the over/under was on “liberals have no sense of humor, it was just a joke”, but it’s already out there.
Huh. You’d think Family Values would preclude cursing at girls. I wonder if Scylla’s having any second thoughts/remorse about being a dittohead this week?
IIRC, he has strenuously denied that.
[hijack]An exhibit of Walter Cronkite’s grandfather’s dentist office (among other things) in the Patee House in St. Joseph, and a whole bunch of Mark Twain stuff that is not Tom and Becky related in and around Hannibal (and, of course, a whole bunch that is). A really nice WWI museum in Kansas City, and a very good exhibit on the below-mentioned Dred Scott case in the Old Courthouse in St. Louis.
As much as I disliked living in Missouri, I’ve got to admit it’s a pretty good state for historical tourism.[/hijack]
Missouri is home for me, so I’m biased. But, I agree that there is a good amount of historical tourism here. And parts of the state are really beautiful. And we do pretty well for ourselves as far as universities go.
None of which changes the fact that honoring Limbaugh is embarassing. Idiots.
On the positive side, another radio station is reportedly dropping Limbaugh’s show. I don’t know how big a market that station reaches, but, hey, any time a radio station boots Limbaugh an angel gets its wings. If a station in, say, New York or LA drops him, I will be extremely happy. I’m not banking on it. Just hoping.
Maybe he has, but the evidence provided by his contributions in this thread suggest otherwise, n’est ce pas?
If you read the article on the Daily Kos you will find that it supposedly was the evil girls’ mothers who actually listened to Rush, agreed with him and told the evil girls what he said, which they then repeated at school. I can see that happening but am withholding judgement til I see more. In other news as a mother of a daughter and a grand-daughter the post on the Kos made me cry. If it turns out not to be true I will be very angry.
If it turns out to be true I will be very angry and very sad for the state of our country.
If it’s any help, Claire McCaskill is trying to block this.
Heaton is back now. After a few days of siding with Limbaugh, and coincidentally a huge tide turning backlash, she rethought her position:
and
So for all you people who bet me $50 that Patricia Heaton doesn’t know how to use Mea Culpa in a sentence, pay up!
Why would anyone WANT to look at a bust of Limbaugh anyways?
Yes, it’s very impressive yes, but we’re talking about the comments he made.
My daughter graduated high school last year. I can safely say that she was not reading reddit or huffpo. Unless she was deleting those sites from the history.
That and the AfterMASH* location tours!
Patricia Heaton is a fucking imbecile. That is all.
And she really uses 7th grade ‘abbrevs’? “Respectful 2 u re my tweets”, seriously?
And I see her on TV almost every day, as my wife watches reruns ::sigh:: her character on Raymond is my wife’s role model.
(Yes, I am miserable. How did you know?)
While I’m sure Limbaugh has an impressive pair of man-boobs, I’m not sure I’d call them a ‘bust’ per se. (And does this mean the statue of Rush will be topless? Or nude even? [I assume nude would be allowable as his naughty bits would be hidden behind rolls of drooping flab.])
I probably missed this in the thread, but why does Rush and some of the commentators on Fox News think that this student’s birthcontrol was going to be paid for by taxpayers? He said that if we are going to pay for it, we should get to watch tapes of her, what is he talking about?
Also, I know this has been pointed out, but there are medical uses for the pill beyond birth control and in fact the student testified about a friend’s medical difficulties because the pill was covered by her plan. She was specifically talking about an instance where the pill was medically mandated for a use other than birth control.
So was Rush just ignoring inconvenient facts, or is he really that ignorant?
