What’s cracking me up is this image of guys laughing at what Rush Limbaugh said about this young lady, and then grabbing a gun if someone said the same thing about the young lady they hold near and dear to their heart. Who they know good and well uses birth control. That’s hilarious to me.

Used to be, back in the 50s or thereabouts, that men could call women sluts or whores for having sex out of wedlock, but the downside to that was that they couldn’t expect women to provide them with sex out of wedlock. (Not the “nice ones”, at least.)
Then the Sexual Revolution and Women’s Liberation came along, and sex out of wedlock became part of the generally accepted social norms, along with demands for gender equality. Men who wanted sex without marriage stood a better chance of finding “nice” women who also wanted sex without marriage. But the downside to that—although lordy, we didn’t realize that the guys would really consider it a downside!—was that men couldn’t call women sluts or whores anymore for being sexually active.
Women claimed the right to sexual freedom in consensual adult relationships of our choice, and any guys who thought that was something to insult us for were sexist pigs. Most men had the decency to realize that if they considered sexual freedom a good thing, then it wasn’t right or fair to sneer at women for feeling the same way.
Nowadays, though, there seems to be a double whammy in expectations about women and sex. Women are still expected to have sexual relationships without marriage, but somehow it’s become (at least somewhat) socially acceptable again to call them sluts or whores if they do.
How the living hell did that happen?!?
