I pit Senator Bunning for killing seniors

I am most definitely a moderate, at least by politics, which is the only way I meant it. My positions are about half liberal half conservative.

Now that you mention it, I’ve got 3 offer letters coming in the next 2 weeks, jobs I had to interview for. No I didn’t have to look for the jobs.

OK that’s my last reply to you I guess, on advice of counsel. Unless you continue to take shots at me…

A jerk that agrees with me is still a jerk.

I do have a job, but it barely helps with the bills as it is a part time position, but I still continue to look for work, last month a position that I was perfect for got me the only reply after several dozen sent so far in the year send me nothing back:

“I’m sorry to inform you that 200 applicants have already contacted me before you”

You are very fortunate, but still a jerk.

I agree, I’m a jerk. Actually, let me rephrase that: I’m actually a really really nice guy in person, but in The Pit, I like to take the Jerk line, sometimes. There’s some 'tude in on these boards, the Pit is a good place to pop those balloons. (For example: take a look at the title of this now hopelessly 'jacked thread: You think the Senator actually wants to kill senior citizens? Really? That’s your story? You sure he wasn’t just making a point about following the just-passed Dem legislation of pay-as-you-go, attempting to point out their blatant hypocracy?)

As for your job situation, sorry you didn’t get the job you wanted. I think a lot of it is location: we have lots of jobs here in the DC metro area, but unfortunately (as I’ve now found out) not everyone has the flexibility to move. I suspect that people being underwater on their houses further pins them down.

Yes, being pinned to a location is a pain in the ass. That is why (among other options) I am aggressively pursuing opportunities that don’t require me to move. After all, if I acquire a job with middle-class income and benefits and remain in a depressed area my wages will go further AND I will help my neighbors by keeping local businesses afloat - a win-win for everyone. My health insurance rules, being underwater on a house, and various other factors can tie someone down geographically.

IF I got a solid lock on a job that provided health benefits yes, I would probably move. Unfortunately, that seems highly unlikely.

On the upside - I finally got a call from the Census yesterday, training starts in about 10 days for me. So I’ll have a month or two of work. Also, my other current prospect is looking better, so I might have paying work starting Monday or Tuesday. If I can run both jobs at once I may be off food stamps by April, which I think we all agree would be a good thing.

After that, the trick is getting a STEADY income I can live on, as the Census work is temporary. I’m OK with that, since it was made clear going in, but clearly I need to be looking beyond that.

And Mr. Smashy - I think you can make your points without being quite such a consummate jerk.

rgr that

edit to add: congrats on the success w/the Census gig

True enough, often happens, a sweet natured and sensitive guy gets a reputation for being snarky and sarcastic. So unfair.
