This is especially noticeable if you drive using a cruise control, which i generally do on long freeway drives when the traffic isn’t too heavy.
I can’t count how many times i’ve been passed, only to have the person drop back into my lane in front of me and slow right down so that i have to pull out and pass them. I don’t really give a fuck what speed you want to go, but at least be consistent about it.
Yes!! I hate that! I set my cruise control to the speed limit or 5 miles over (about 65mph) and stick to the right lane except when I’m passing a slower moving vehicle. I’ve heard that huge percentage of people who don’t use CC consistently, but without realizing it, vary their speed. They just get lulled by boring highway driving and their foot adjusts pressure on the gas pedal long before they consciously look at the speedometer and note their speed has changed. Usually, they never bother looking until someone has passed them. Why can’t more people just use cruise control? Not that they care but maintaining a consistent speed is more fuel efficient.
Right, which is precisely why i said that i use it when traffic isn’t too heavy. I was talking specifically about times when freeway traffic is light, and the use of cruise control is viable.
If i’m travelling on I-5 in the middle of fucking Nowheresville, California with the cruise control at 75 miles an hour, and you pass me at 80 and then pull in front of me and reduce your speed to 70, then you’re going to piss me off. That’s shitty driving, whether you have cruise control or not.
So when you enter the freeway, the speed limit is X. Once everyone is situated onto the freeway and there are no exits to get onto it for a little bit, the speed increases to Y.
So why in God’s name do you stay going at X?! Why?! Why must you do this BS? If I wanted to stay at X, I would have gone the slightly shorter but also 30km/h slower other route!
For any of my Saskatchewan friends, I’m talking about Circle Drive. Is Ring Road this bad? I don’t spend too much time in the Queen’s City.
