And one more scrumptious dollop of Ohio, the Butteye State.
The good news? This may not be crooked, merely stupid. Yay!

Well, never ascribe to malice, blah blah blah…
What? What? A union threatening illegal aliens with deportation if they don’t register and vote illegally?
Where’s the corroboration for this guy’s story? The website for Culinary Workers Union Local 226shows a campaign to register voters. And one to encourage members seeking US Citizenship.
Surely there’s another independent published account for these heinous deeds!
Union thugs, LP, union thugs!
To cop a line from Philip K. Dick: Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn’t go away. Tell me, BB, is there any reason that I shouldn’t believe this journalist? Or that I should believe the website and spokesmen for the CWU Local 226? Unions, after all, have a long history of such tactics.
It doesn’t cease to be true merely because you choose to doubt it. It isn’t enough merely to cast doubt. Doubt, no less than belief, must be justified.
Yes, union thugs, Luci, union thugs. Union thuggery both past and present is such a well established fact that only a fool would try to deny. As I’ve reminded you on many occasions, loutish adolescent mockery doesn’t make facts go away.
And yet, here you are.
Your total array of facts boils down to “This guy said…”. That’s it, that’s all you’ve shown us. May the blessed Baby Jesus shut your mouth and open your mind, amen.
Yes, here I am.
Whenever I read one of your posts and strip away the sneers and ridicule, there usually isn’t much left. Are you really as shallow as you seem?
Don’t have to read any of them, hoss. I’ll get over it.
So here’s a real-life situation.
My mother has been voting for 20 years at the same location with the same home address in Ohio. She has a driver’s license, a passport, and other forms of government-issued photo identification. About a month ago, she had back surgery and although she can drive a little now if she has to, it’s very painful, as is standing in line. My father can no longer drive because of his failing eyesight.
So, my parents requested absentee ballots well in advance and submitted them. Yesterday, the day before the election, my mother received a notice that her absentee ballot had been rejected because of some vague problem with her identification. Now she is faced with running to the county courthouse 20 miles away and waiting in a long line to find out what’s going on or going to her regular polling place and casting a provisional ballot. Well, we all know what a joke provisional ballot is, especially in Jon Husted’s Ohio.
So, here we go. Unless my mom can get to someone and get this straightened out in a few hours, she is going to be disenfranchised in a swing state.
Is that the kind of tangible harm that would make someone think twice about voter identification laws?
No. Because this:
Is not true. If she casts a provisional ballot, what do you imagine will happen to it?
Of course there’s a reason you shouldn’t believe this journalist. His story smells like it’s been dead for weeks.
He notes himself that he’s been writing about the dangers of voter fraud for months, so he clearly has an axe to grind - and then he finds corroboration that only he knows about and can’t reveal his source for.
I might add that it’s just slightly suspect that he interviewed two non-English speakers but makes no reference to having had an interpreter present. It’s possible that he speaks Spanish himself, of course, but somehow I doubt it.
Take a look at the other stuff he’s written for the newspaper. It’s not exactly what I’d call fair and balanced.
They had efforts going from the beginning, and you moved the goalposts with this question.
And of course you had no possible way to determine it existed except to read the one article.
No searching yourself? That might have led you to one or two instances of it:

Couldn’t find any of them, huh?
No, really, just the part about making a woman recuperating from back surgery run around the county after she already submitted an absentee ballot isn’t enough?
They’re goat fuckers, Bricker. I imagine they will try to fuck the goat.
Specifically, I imagine that the Republican administration will try to find a way not to count it, just as they have done in the rule reviewed in SEIU v. Husted, which says that if you rely on the advice of a poll worker and end up voting at the wrong polling place, your vote will be tossed out.
I guess today is the day we find out if Bricker’s Lying Cunt Brigade™ will be successful in keeping people from voting.
I’m not sure it really signifies that she’s recuperating from back surgery. Obviously that sucks, but it’s not as though the Ohio board of elections knows anything about it.
Could you please rephrase? I’m not sure what you’re getting at.
If you’re saying that there’s no proof that her ballot was rejected because she had back surgery, I don’t see how that’s relevant. Back surgery is the reason she wanted to vote absentee, and situations like this are (part of) the reason why absentee ballots are provided for. And I definitely consider it a tangible harm that my mother is having to endure significant pain in order to go out and try to find some way to cast a ballot today.
And didn’t the Sixth Circuit say that they can’t do that?
Yes, they did. The Sixth Circuit said that fucking the goat in this particular position was okay. Does that mean that I now must believe that it’s okay to fuck the goat?
