I Pit the ID-demanding GOP vote-suppressors (Part 1)

And I should accept your authority about their authority? I’m prepared to assume that Indianans thought the reason was good, as I’ve assumed YOU think your reasons are good, but your reasons are not convincing (or even all that coherent) so what are theirs?

Ah, good to know! For many years now, I have felt ashamed of the Texas of my youth and the repulsive suppression of colored citizens. Of course, I knew it was quite popular, but did not realize until now that such popularity rendered it totally kosher!

Popularity makes everything okay. Duh! Didn’t you go to high school?

It’s not just popularity. People are concerned and they want the government to do something. What they’re doing is a good idea regardless of how big a threat the problem really is.

Yay, [del]Springfield Bear Patrol![/del] Voter ID laws!

Wait, I think maybe I see it! Damn, but Bricker’s thoughts are so subtle and brilliant, its hard for a boor of little brain to grasp but!..

Its all about voter confidence, that people who have cast votes don’t have to worry about their votes being negated by renegade ACORN and CASA volunteers. But those are people who have* cast *their votes! Their voter confidence is of the utmost importance!

But if they are hindered, harassed and otherwise suppressed then…they don’t cast a vote! Therefore, they have no voter confidence to be considered, because they aren’t voters!! They might have wanted to be voters, but they aren’t!

Man, talk about subtle and nuanced thinking!

I’m especially fond of this quote from that wild-eyed radical lefty, Judge Richard Posner…

Georgia has found another way - just don’t process the applications.

I don’t know where this leftist Posner got his law degree, but he obviously flunked any class given by Professor Bricker.

I’ll bet they regret ratifying the US Constitution now.

Pretty much inevitable that the Founding Fathers would include Hoosier Daddy…

Arkansas Supreme Court strikes down voter ID law

A law that was both popular, i.e. moral, *and *unconstitutional. **Bricker **must have smoke coming out of his head over that.

What myths are those? If you have a problem with a claim I made, quit being a bitch and point out my “ignorance”.

“Deregulation” causes unemployment of the lower classes. You sound like Rachel Maddow’s pet parrot. And Republican budget cuts are responsible for the utter failures of Baltimore City Schools. Maryland is as Democratic as they come, but yet city schools can’t be helped. Hmmmmmm. Democrats harvest their votes in the city. Democrats turn around and give them shit.

Rachel Maddow has got a swan’s neck, a girlish giggle, and a mind like a steel trap. Also, a Ph.D. from being a Rhodes scholar.

And you got?..

…Comprehension of supply/demand economics, integrity, and an historical perspective that is longer than my lifespan.

Also disdain for post recyclers.

I’m not a bitch, Willy. I’m the one winning this argument.

As for your ignorance, you’ve only posted what, nine times in this thread. In those posts you’ve demonstrated that you think Democrats are the ones oppressing the poor in America. That’s just insane. If you want to say they aren’t doing enough, well I’d agree. But political considerations limit what can be done. I’d love it if we flipped a switch and transformed into Sweden, but reality dictates that it must be done in fits and starts. Primarily because 30% of our population has internalized GOP nonsense propaganda to the extent that they want creationism in schools, think a border fences is a sane solution, and deny AGW exists.

The insane people a generation of RW media propaganda act as a brake on social change. So if you’re upset that the Dems don’t transform society in the blink of an eye, your anger is misplaced.

Think about your feelings about voter ID. You blame Dems for not getting IDs to the poor. Instead of blaming the GOP for passing laws that disenfranchise them, you turn your ire on the Dems for not getting them IDs before the GOP got the chance to fuck them for not having IDs. That’s not reasonable.

It’s not like the Dems had a lock on all those states before the GOP wave of 2010. They had to deal with a GOP and populace that in large part, hate the poor and think they’re wholly responsible for their state.

I strongly disagree with your position and claims… but this is hardly the right thread for that discussion.

Maybe, but what I had in mind was failures in the financial sector. I’m glad Canada is well regulated in that regard.

I suppose in your world, that’s a super deadly insult. In mine it’s just silly.

Supreme court is allowing Texas id laws.

Well, this’ll be a chance to gather some real data. Maybe 10,000 voters will be blocked, though even 1% of that exceeds any plausible estimate of voter frauds.
