I pit the idiots who say the Nazis were "Socialists".

At least it’s an ethos.

C’mon, you were all thinking that.

Is it Ayn Rand’s birthday already?

Speaking of birthdays, how do you celebrate Chavez’s? Or is he considered persona non grata now that his policies have shown to be a failure? Oh well, at least you still have small homogeneous countries in Europe to fawn over. Though with the migrant crisis you can pretty much say goodbye to that. Those economies won’t be able to carry the weight forever.

We have streets named for him in many major US cities

You have streets named for Cesar Chavez, not Hugo Chavez, but neither one warrants one, honestly. Only one of these socialist idols collapsed an entire country, leading to the starvation and death of thousands…so that’s good.

Nazi Germany had a bad political and economic system which failed. Chavezist Venezuela had a bad political and economic system which failed. But they weren’t the same system.

Politics is more complicated than bumper stickers would lead you to believe.

Even the ones that have flags on them? :frowning:

Is this the only view you get in Randland? No wonder you spend so much time with your heads up your asses.

So then is the Democratic People’s Republic of North Korea any of those things besides Korean?

Der…p, but they use ‘Democratic’ in the name, so they must be a democracy, right? Or are they secretly allied with the Democratic party in the USA? :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes. Four years later and I wake up to find leftists fawning over the sister of the ultra-authoritarian North Korean leader. Shit’s crazy. I guess the left has stopped pretending to be concerned with human rights and egalitarian principles.

North Koreans have very few if any democratic principles/policies in place. Nazi Germany had a number of socialist principles/policies in place. At least come up with a remotely sensible argument.

Shucks. I thought you were actually going to give me a real response for a second. I was curious to know how leftists celebrate Hugo Chavez’s birthday.

C’mon peeps. It’s a Pit thread.

Where’s the pent-up anti-zombie indignation? Show me some undead-killin’ RAGE.

Maybe you’ll have better luck asking if I still beat my wife.

No shit? Denmark is not the same system as Sweden. Go figure. Chavez’s economic system was one of the main social governments touted by the left. Jeremy Corbyn constantly talked about how great Venezuela was. Now they’re stoning cows to eat. Hilarious.

‘Politics is more complicated than bumper stickers…’

Great information.

The quote is from 2014. Perhaps you’d wish to reconsider in light of recent events.

Well…do you? And is she ‘cisgender’? Just curious.

But okay…Which socialist leader would you prefer, if not Hugo? I think we can pretty much rule out the entirety of Africa, Latin America, and much of Asia. You all have done a bang up job destroying those places. Who’s the most celebrated socialist figure in Europe these days?

You’ll get used to this: Cite? I mean, sure, we get as entertained by his shenanigans as anybody, but “fawning?” Personally, I look forward to the day he’s marched in front of some anti-aircraft guns, so ante up some proof.

The recent event of leftists drooling over Kim Jong Un’s sister? The recent event of leftists helping peddle pro-Iranian government propaganda against the protesters? Or, the recent event of leftists rallying behind the corrupt dictator of Venezuela’s illegal push to become an even more powerful dictator?

Are you denying this happened?
