Except that’s not gong to happen and you know it.
Gawd forbid we suggest something that actually gets a chance of implementation.
The American media, with few exceptions, is knee deep in more than just flood waters these days. They report these events with ill-concealed enthusiasm and will do anything for an exclusive interview, the more salacious the better. We are repeatedly warned (with appropriate gravitas) that “what follows are scenes that may be graphic or offensive to viewers”. Then why show them? Ratings, of course, and cash flow from big pharma advertisers. It’s sickening.
Dumbfuck, I’m not questioning where you said we should spend more on mental health, I’m questioning your assertion that “someone” told you it was too expensive.
Yes, we should really be talking about doing things that will get approval from gun nuts . . . like repealing the National Firearms Act.
I came to criticize those indoctrinated with NRA bullshit. Shame that there are so many of you.
I don’t know, do we? Who are you asking?
Help with what exactly? Seems you think there’s some globally accepted solution here that I’m not on board with. Please illuminate me.
I’ve not proposed any such thing. However those of you who continually stand up this fucking strawman all do so to accomplish the same thing…to preserve the status quo. If the fact that a lot of guns exist is your principal argument you’re a part of the fucking problem and your feelings be damned. We can propose one solution, whatever that might be, and then once we find the next problem we figure it out. One day we’ll figure out what to do about the illegal use and transfer of already owned guns…but stop deflecting from the problem being discussed in this thread most recently, that the gun store owner irresponsibly sold a kid a shit ton of guns. I’m not sure what the 300 million guns in circulation have to do with that problem except distract people and create butthurt digressions.
OP hasn’t even responded to me. I have no idea what imagined issue you’re manufacturing here. He’s a piece of shit…pretty close to unanimity on that point in this thread. But please keep cozying up to him since he seems to be who you’re white knighting for.
That’s the problem. You think you’re helping and any other opinion that doesn’t align with your pro-gun (just slightly less pro-gun stance than the OP) position needs to be attacked. I’m going no where, people get shouted down which is why nothing changes. Keep your lame half measures and excuses. You’re right though, you are on the right side. Not the correct side, the right-wing side.
Do you though? All I hear are excuses for things that just can’t be done…so bravo, you’re doing a bang up job.
Yes, clearly I’m the problem. Not the “allies” who keep amplifying the right’s tactics of indoctrination.
Feel better? Kids are getting killed and you want to defend the status quo because you don’t like my tone? You live a a fantasy world that does not exist. You’re trying the same lame tactics that have failed from the left for my entire lifetime. It’s time to meet the right with the same bile they use. If our target is miles to the left we might land somewhere closer to sanity. But you’d prefer to aim at the middle which has never worked and ends up curving right back to the dystopian hellscape we currently exist in. Yell all you want, but you are the problem. You share the views of every Democrat that has been elected for 50 years and done nothing. You are no longer my ally, you are Vichy France.
Just remember: there is a special word for “compromise” with fascists. It’s called appeasement, and it tends not to turn out too well for anyone but the fascists.
Consider that instead of continuing to push this line of seeking compromise with fascist death cult that the GOP has become since the 1960s, the time has some to demand that Democrats take a hard left. Stop vilifying the progressive wing of their own party and join them. If the wider democratic establishment weren’t such damned appeasers, we wouldn’t have a conservative supermajority on the Supreme Court, and the Senate wouldn’t be crippled by the GOP right now.
Fuck appeasement.
All I’m hearing is you touting your failure. Things have gotten worse in those 50 years. The GOP continually gains ground. We’re inches from a fascist state. So you’re maybe the last person I want directing this fight. Seems like you don’t really have it in you since you’re so worried about all those things that are just too hard to do.
You’re just another narcissist Boomer who thinks only they have the solution. Yet have actually created the problem.
Worth noting that many of the similar countries have universal single-payer healthcare which treats mental illness and other social services that keep misanthropes from spiraling into chaos. So even if the levels of mental illness are similar, they are actually doing something about it…
I’d just like to thank y’all. Your work on “constitutional carry” and repealing suppressor bans instead of thinking of any real way to limit the damage your toys produces is what’s entirely responsible for the above posts.
The, potential, future, loss of all of your gun rights is a thing of your own creation.
How much did an AR-15, M-16, or AK-47 cost in 1776, around the time the 2nd Amendment was written? Could an 18yo have bought one?
You are a loser. It’s clear in every word you say, which you heard from someone else since you’ve never had an original thought in your life.
You underestimate the power of bureaucracy. A gun dealer in/near any major urban area could run a credit check on potential customers in the late 19th century.

How about a 1000% tax on gun sales…would pay for universal mental health services easy.
Way to keep up the good fight, hero.
Is this sarcasm?
No, it’s for real.

I meant with regard to their equivalency.
On top of that, they also have much higher levels of gun regulations. This isn’t a “pick 1” sort of solution…
But, but, but…people keep telling me that we need a magic bullet.
And many more than six of them!
