I pit the people behind anti-transgender "bathroom bills"

One of the local universities has that layout. Mixed, stalls at the front, urinals behind a wall at the back (at least, according to the sign, being female I didn’t actually check).

Not cool. Smapti is showing some growth and you pick at this shit?

You’re not supposed to breastfeed the whole world, only your current baby(-ies).

+1

Well.

That explains a lot.

:smack:

Heh, all the iPhone / “I trust the government fully without question” stuff was within the last few days/weeks. “Showing growth” about a transgender issue does not mean he’s not still a fuckhead, and I couldn’t say what I wanted to say about him in that thread.

+1000. Smapti is a fucking cancer on this board who ruins damn near every thread he takes part in.

I always sort of mentally chalked it up to a combination of dealing with menstruation products and the fact that, by and large, if there are small children being taken to a restroom, odds are they’re in the ladies room. Few things slow down a line of people wanting to pee more than someone with a couple of little kids who had to pee just a second ago and now are too fascinated by all the Delights of the Restroom to get things taken care of. Also, it takes considerably more time to cajole a very small (but toilet trained - or mostly toilet trained) child into and out of the appropriate clothing than it does for me to take care of my own clothing adjustments. Even if a parent with a small child is as efficient as possible and doesn’t get any push back from their offspring about, for example, the necessity of pants in public, they’re still going to be tying up a stall for several times longer than a solo person. Nature of the beast.

In a lot of ways, I find using the restroom while wearing a skirt to be faster than pants, all other things considered. Tending to feminine hygiene slows my roll down a fair amount though - it’s a fairly labor-intensive process (relatively speaking).

Bathroom bills are still patently ridiculously bigoted, though. I have markedly more privacy in a public restroom than I do in any other public space - why would I be worried about transfolks in the restroom if they don’t bother me anywhere else?

If you guys feel this way about him why are you in this thread at all? Maybe you should re-read the OP and realize that there is pretty much nothing to complain about in his attitude here.

Why not just go someplace else if you think he’s just a dick?

Please don’t though. Smapti wrote a nice OP in support of people like myself and I don’t really want to see the thread hijacked into something else. I’m not a staff member nor do I have any right to do anything but just ask politely, please.

I’m in this thread to share my opinion of the OP. If you choose to defend that cowardly waste of skin, that is your choice. My choice is to call him out for the cancer that he is. One reasonable OP does not change my opinion, and the rules of this forum allow me to state so. Given how many threads I’ve seen him shit in, I don’t even feel guilty about it.

Added on Preview: Sorry Una. I agree that it’s a nice OP. I would just hate for anyone reading it to think is representative of the shit that Smapti normally posts.

Totally agree with this. When I’ve traveled abroad, I’ve noticed that public restrooms in Europe and the UK usually have floor to ceiling enclosed stalls for perfect privacy, completely unlike the lame-ass cheap stalls we have in the USA that a fully grown adult can crawl under given sufficient motivation.

I don’t have a problem with unisex bathrooms, either. I used to belong to a naturist club and when everybody’s nude, there’s no need to segregate the bathrooms. In an environment like that (meaning, NOT sexually charged) men and women all comfortably use the same bathroom, even the open showers. (The stalls are good for pooping, though. I’m not sure why, but peeing and pooping just seem to require different levels of intimacy, or rather, we don’t like to see or be seen pooping.

I think the gain with urinals is more about space-efficiency. You can have more of them in the same space, which allows more parallel peeing processes. In a high-traffic bathroom, that would speed things up a bit. I agree with your solution, though. A unisex bathroom with a urinal section would probably be the most efficient approach in general, plus it would simplify construction, plumbing, and maintenance. There’d probably be a bit of fuss at the changeover, then within a few years, nobody would think about it anymore.

FWIW, I’m sorry if anything I said about gender issues in the past was insulting to you or dismissive of who you are. Like I said; I don’t understand what it’s like to be in your shoes, but I don’t think I need to understand in order to be tolerant.

I’m glad to see this.

Without stirring up any animosity, may I ask if you’ve considered extending this same tolerance to people who don’t choose heroic end of life measures?

I am honestly not trying to get a dig in; I’m wondering if your epiphany regarding tolerance in one area might impact another.

Would the OP extend this new found compassion to people who don’t want the government hacking their phones?

Alas, Una, you will not be listened to. Even though there are *plenty *of threads in which to take Smapti to task for those issues on which he is wrong.

It’s not?

Amazing, isn’t it? And gay people don’t choose to be gay! And atheists don’t hate God, they just don’t believe God exists. And most Democrats and liberals work hard and don’t want handouts to get by in life! And Obama doesn’t hate America!

Isn’t the Dope great? Fighting ignorance every day.

Iunno, I think I’d forgive him if he started hating it now.
