Republicans have been bitching about Medicare and SS for years. Is there any evidence that they are placed on a list and denied their Medicare or SS benefits?
If not, why would UHC be different?
If so, it’s show and tell time.

Sample dnc pre-election poll:
“Do you love obama or are you a racist?”
Of course, now it is:
“Do you love obama and all his ideas and policies or are you a racist?”
The bald ignorance AND hypocrisy with this Pit is breathtaking.
And predictable.
You can provide a cite for that poll?
No one has cited a recent and comparable DNC push-poll. So before you play the “predictable” victim card and self-righteousness, why don’t you put your money where your mouth is? Which is all besides the point anyway, since even if you could find a comparable DNC push-poll that’s recent, most of the people who have posted in this thread would likely condemn that as well.
Tu quoque is such a tired practice.
Cite?
We quoted a real poll, and you just quoted your ass hole. Do you understand the difference?
You know, its not really fair to go straight to the advanced questions right away like that…
How’s this for an anecdote: I was confronted by a loss prevention officer when applying for food stamps, and criticized for my presumed political views because I wear a military ball cap.
I don’t know that it would have affected my application had I continued.
It sure as shit intimidated and pissed me off.
(No. I don’t believe this is any kind of official policy. Had I had the gumption to make a scene, as I should have, I probably could gotten a gold-plated apology, at least.)
Here was a Democratic push poll from 2004:

Actually, I have a question about that. Do you think most people who posted in this thread would condemn it because they’re opposed to the practice of push polling, or do you think they’d condemn it because they pretty much have to in order to seem consistent?
It seems to me that that’s the reason that all the tu quoque doesn’t work…because when confrunted with evidence of their inconstancy, most people just lie.
What’s a loss prevention officer? In a store? I guess I always assumed people applied for food stamps at a government agency.
I wish you had made a scene. Did you file a complaint, at least? That pisses me right off.
Nope, not a private security officer: a law enforcement officer of some kind - I’m not sure if she was county or state. Specifically there as part of a program to prevent/minimize fraudulent claims for assistance. I’m not saying I was singled out for the interview because of my ballcap, just that the way the interview was conducted was a bit more hostile than I expected, and because of her assumptions about my political views. (And it’s pretty ironic for me to consider she was holding me personally responsible for the way that Presidential elections had gone, when the state had voted, both in 2000 and 2004 for the Democratic candidate.)
As for filing the complaint, about three weeks later I got approved for my VA pension, and well, I chose to avoid the whole mess.
I don’t blame you.
You know, this puts paid to some of the talk about how sunshine and roses food stamps are. I wonder how many people are hassled just trying to sign up?
I’m glad things worked out for you (assuming the VA pension counts as working out).
Well, I mean, seriously, a Republican applying for food stamps? Be like a guy asking for a clerical discount at a ho-house.
How on Earth is that poll anything remotely similar to the one cited in the OP? There is no question in there that is as inflammatory and deceitful as the one in the OP.
Most people not blinded by their own ideology, which would include most of the posters here, can recognize bullshit when they see it no matter whether it happens to be slung against someone they agree with or disagree with. A push-poll that said:
"It has been suggested that President George W. Bush and a secret cabal of Jews planned and carried out the 9/11 attacks. Does this possibility concern you?
would be equally condemned and loathed by both sides.
Question 72 is a push question. It’s intended to associate Kerry with the statements.
Maybe, but that’s just a really bad question. Would the question:
“It has been suggested by some people that Iraq posed no threat to the United States, and that President Bush’s decision to attack Iraq was influenced by the desire to gain control of the country’s oil resources. If that were true, would it make you more or less confident of President Bush’s leadership abilities?”
be so widely condemned?
See, I disagree that most people can recognize bullshit when they see it, and I disagree that most posters here aren’t blinded by their own ideology.
The whole process was pretty much an emotional steamroller for me, and for most people I’ve talked with who have also had to apply for benefits. First off, you’re one of hundreds of people seen each day in their office, and everyone in the waiting room, I believe, can point to someone who’s better off than they are, and others who are far worse off. Don’t get me wrong: I honestly believe that the bureaucracy is trying to the best they can for as many people as they may.
But telling someone you can’t feed yourself, you can’t find work, and then having to prove it is pretty powerful stuff. Because they’re seeing so many people each day, you’re not going to feel like there’s any chance to make a personal connection - which further runs people down.
It’s easy for me to believe that even innocent comments go awry, often. Which contributes, in a predictable way, to the experienced workers there making no comments. Which adds it’s own weight for the clients.
It’s keeping me housed, and fed, so yeah - it’s working. Not quite what I wanted or hoped for when I had the world by the tail, but…
I’d be happier being tarred with that brush, if I had actually *joined *the Republican Party any time in the past 23 years.
When the best thing you can come up with, in regards to bad behavior, is “Well, they do it too!!!”, you’ve lost the argument.
Please be assured that no such insinuation was intended. As a recovering Texan, I am well aware of the possible consequences of a mortal insult.
No worries.
