I pit "the shooting was staged" conspiracy theorists

Or whether it actually turns out to be what’s best for himself.

You also have the numerous cases where he contradicts himself. If he says the sun rises in the east and also says it DOEN’T rise in the east - do we all shut down from the paradox?

Good point. The entire space-time continuum is at risk.

That man is a menace not only to this country, or even the world, but the whole universe!

I beg to differ. I dated someone that was incapable of telling the truth. Did she say “it’s Monday” when it was Tuesday? No, that’s exaggeration.

But she did say "I was in The Man From Snowy River, I was engaged to Robert Redford, my father worked for the CIA and is world famous in his field, I had my intestines removed, I was involved with a guy that murdered his wife and almost killed me*, my underage girlfriend I am totally not having an affair with didn’t break your truck window in a fit of jealous rage, just because I am staying in a secluded cabin with a young man while you feed my animals does not mean I am having sex with him, the guy calling collect from jail is not my boyfriend, even if he threatens you, and “i love you’.” And we only dated for a month,

Now tell me, if she told me it was 2:30 pm, would I be wrong in checking with someone else?

*the first part may be true. She drowned under suspicious circumstances, but nothing was ever proved. Just like Natalie Wood. The second part was complete BS.

I would at least check my watch, yes.

Trump and/or his administration is absolutely lying about this event.

The question is which part are they lying about? Probably the lie is not “Someone tried to rush the correspondent’s dinner with a gun.” But there’s some aspect about this that they’re lying about, or will be lying about, because that’s what they do. “The gunman was a registered member of antifa!” or “He was sleeping with Kamala Harris,” or “Rashida Tlaib was seen twerking in celebration when she was informed of the attempt.”

But “some lunatic with a gun tried to force his way past the SS,” is probably not the lie.

Probably.

But that’s not a conspiracy theory. That this entire administration (including the parts that should be non partisan public servants) are going to come up with hideous partisan lies about this event and use it to achieve GOP goals, is just a given. That’s no more a conspiracy theory than saying the moon goes round the earth.

They’re already doing it. Bolding mine in the quotes below. Trump’s courage and bravery are downright superhuman!

Trump said he wanted to stay at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, but law enforcement concerns took precedence.

“We wanted to stay tonight," Trump said. "I will tell you, I fought like hell to stay.”
Trump says person in custody after White House Correspondents' Dinner incident

=============================
US President Donald Trump says he “wasn’t worried” while he was being evacuated from the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, after a gunman attempted to storm the ballroom.

In a statement on Sunday, the White House said Trump “stands fearless” after surviving, alongside cabinet members, "an assassination attempt when shots were fired".

In an interview with the news programme 60 Minutes on Sunday, Trump said he “wasn’t making it easy” for agents to evacuate him from the room.

"I wanted to see what was happening… I wanted to see what was going on.
Trump says he 'wasn't worried' during Washington press dinner shooting

Hey, if I had 8 armed professionals protecting me every moment of the day and night. I wouldn’t be too worried either.

No, no, you misunderstand. According to another quote from the above-linked BBC article, Trump is in constant peril, but because he’s so fearless, he just soldiers on:

After being rushed off the stage to safety, Trump later told reporters at a briefing on Saturday: “I can’t imagine that there’s any profession that’s more dangerous”.

The White House, as noted above, also described how he “stands fearless after surviving … an assassination attempt”, which attempt in reality was a shooting that wasn’t even on the same floor. Also not mentioned is how the fearless one allegedly tripped over his own feet in his rush to get out, although to be fair the Secret Service pushing his considerable bulk may have been a factor.

“Sir, there’s a call from Reagan and Ford on line one.”

So Lincoln sent a letter. I know the mail is slow, but…

Yeah, there’s some lie there. Though what some people call courage, I might attribute to megalomaniacal arrogance. He might have “fought like hell” because he wanted to sit like a king over his court. Or he was scared shitless and is showing his usual false bravado, because he is a total chickenshit (like most bullies are). I really don’t know, I think either is possible.

True bravery though, of course that’s not the case. He has a spine of gelatin. He received bone spurs instead of a backbone.

“I don’t take responsibility at all”.

It starts with the idea that someone, not on the guest list, without some serious prep work, armed with a long gun and body armor can penetrate even the most outer of the SS (hah!) perimeters.

WTF is going on there? Are those people just silent quitting?

This is a high profile event. Normally these guys are welding the sewer entrances shut weeks in advance, snipers are on the roofs days in advance.

I feel this is a really strange story.

From what I’ve heard (rumors to be fair), the security at this event was shitty. Not what you’d expect from an event the president is attending.

Of course, I think what we should expect from this administration is incompetence. That’s what happens when the only thing you value is total devotion to Trump and complete sycophancy. Expertise and experience are not only undervalued, in some cases they actually hate it.

Something does seem to be half a bubble off. Even the super blury vidio footage. This event, with all these powerful people and the President and journalists, has shity security video? I’ve got better on my house. My Ring doorbell is better than that.

He had a shotgun? Where? Come on.

I haven’t seen any claims at all he brought the shotgun with him to the event. I have seen claims that he bought one and stored it with other guns at his parent’s house, but none about it being at the event.

Heh, nevermind. Just saw the charges against him. If you’re going to just sprint in, might as well carry a shotgun, I suppose.

Seems like security was respectable if an armed loon didn’t get anywhere close to his target(s), and was taken down with no one being hurt.

There was an old saw about the Secret Service not being able to stop an intended killer who didn’t care about dying.
