Their seems to be a popular misconception that there are two classes of people in the world ,the victims who are innocent and the oppressors who are evil.
Its often the case in some parts of the world that todays victims are yesterdays oppressors who have suffered a losing streak and are now in their turn suffering from what they used to deal out and the cycle may well turn yet again.
Revenge for atrocities committed often in their season bring vengance on the avengers.
Examples of role reversal are slaves shipped to N.America who were themselves rounding up rival tribespeople for human trafficking before their rivals got the drop on them .
The Hutus and the Tutsis taking it in turn to massacre each other plus the Iraqis living in fear under Saddam Hussein who now that they are free from his brutal regime are murdering ,terrorising and torturing huge numbers of their own countrymen because each branch of Islam is the wrong one in the opposing camps eyes.
As to much of the starvation in the world its not due to an act of god or bad luck its very much self inflicted.
Peoples carry on populating without any attempt at restraint in areas that they KNOW cant sustain the population they already have let alone increase it still further.
Farmers cant be bothered to use the much higher yield though low tech agricultural practices that incidentally stop the top soil blowing away and the continuing desertification of sub Saharan Africa.
The future when they are going to starve isn’t really real so rather then do a little more work lets go and see our mates and drink ourselves stupid on maize beer all day and if there are some things that must be done the women can do it in between everything else.
Young trees planted by NGOs for shade and to hold the soil in place?
Lets cut them down for firewood and feed whats left over to the goats.
Seed corn to ensure a crop next season?lets not sow it instead we’ll eat it now cos we sold on the aid corn provided for eating to make ourselves a little bit more cash.
With money you can buy better things then Maize beer.
All those skin and bone cattle that are providing next to nothing in sustenance but are over grazing the land to death?

Aid money?the local government will soon tuck that away in European bank accounts.
Disease?Well we’ll shit where we prepare food the aid workers said something about it but we weren’t really paying attention and anywayits too much effort to walk away to do it let alone bury or burn it,let alone wipe our backsides on any substances available locally.
And its not a bad idea to defecate into the river where we draw our water from.
When are you going to supply us with more very expensive anti viral drugs?
AIDS is at epidemic numbers and everyone knows that it is an insult to any real man to even try to ask him to wear a condom even if he is carrying the virus and no it is a denial of his human rights to expect him to forego his sexual pleasures,in actual fact discriminating against him for being an HIV carrier.
