I Pit Walking Poles

We are? Huh. Well, you learn something every day.
In fact, in my neck of the woods, those walking poles, or whatever you wanna call’em, are seen only among people close to, or above, retirement age and upper-middle-aged women in bad shape. Everybody else, provided they are of reasonable health, won’t be seen dead with a pair of those unless, you know, they come with a pair of cross-country skis. And there’s snow outside.

Bwaaaahaahaaa…

That little fucker attack chiwawa and the two big black labs were on the run again tonight. They came into the front yard getting quite aggressive towards the SO and myself. I am sure if it was some kid in the hood that ran from them they would have been attacked. Much less somebody with a dog or neighborhood cat. They came close to actually attacking me and I showed no fear.

Chi Chi Rodwegwez made one too many runs at me while one of the labs circled to the side with hair raised trying to come at me from the back (in my yard mind you).

I maced the fuckers good. I hope they go home and spread that shit all over their owner’s house.

10 cm of snow last night. Ski areas in the neighbourhood opening tonmorrow. Time to retrieve my adjustable poles from my neighbour who has been using them over the summer.

Is there a version I can get for my car?

I don’t understand. Why does the OP hate Poles? And in particular Poles who walk? And how do you know they’re Polish?

Because they are shiny and smell of wax?

Any way the season of two planks and a couple of poles is upon us, could really do with another few storms though.

I’m in the middle of a double header. Just finised cross-country skiing (a.k.a. nordic walking with poles while on skis), and now I’m heading off for alpine skiing. Winter has arrived.

That’s why I use them while hillwalking-- my knees hyper-extend and rather than tearing the joint apart further, especially on descent, I use the poles to shift my weight forward and let my knees stay slightly bent.

If I don’t, I get horrible pain and swelling behind my knees and can’t bend them at all for a few days.
