I pit WeGame.com

May DDoS hell be in store for you.

Apparently it’s some sort of stupid gaming social networking website with an insidious twist. They try and collect your gmail or hotmail account password and then send invites to ALL of your contacts!

The way they do this is as follows:

  • You get an email form a friend (an old friend in my case), that says he has sent you a photo. For some stupid reason I clicked on the link, probably 'cause I miss my old friend.

  • In order to view the photo you have to create a sign in and give up your email. Did I mention I REALLY missed my old friend? Well I did, so I signed up - I figured I’d write him about my upcoming wedding since I didn’t have an email for him - Stupid, I know).

  • They then present you with a login screen to your hotmail or gmail account and prompt you for your password. This is where alarm bells finally went off (What the hell is wrong with me? Must have been an off day, did I mention I really missed my friend?)

At this point I got up and went to the bathroom, thinking that maybe there was some other way of contacting my friend.

My SO, however, got on the PC. She has been checking my email since we’re getting in touch with wedding officiants, ordering wedding stuff, etc. Well, you know what happens here. She put in my password and “logged in”.

Now everyone in my contacts list, including my boss, co-workers, friends and family are getting a picture of some creepy guy dressed up like Mario with a little kid dressed up like Luigi sitting next to him playing nintendo.

And… Apparently my Mom signed up and added me to her friend’s list… and I’m now getting the same picture invite as are all of her contacts.

Damn it! I gotta call people now…

protip: his and her email (or his and his, her’s, and her’s)

We have separate email accounts, it’s just that some of the wedding stuff was done with my email, and some of the stuff was in her email, so we’re both checking each other’s email when we get a chance.

Ouch. Sounds like a true clusterfuck.
