I Pit Where Liberalism Has Gone

Why do you demand the right to openly say it? It’s not freedom of speech, it’s being an asshole. Why do you demand the ability to be an asshole?

It’s not that he wants to be a bigoted asshole – he can feel free to do so all he wants; it’s that he wants to be a bigoted asshole without anyone criticizing him.

Having death squads at your disposal with no accountability for how they are used tends to encourage people to speak highly of you. Or else.

As something of an outsider who doesn’t consider himself liberal, and who doesn’t affiliate himself with the “conservatives” either, I think this is a huge issue for the liberals and Democratic party.

It seems to me that the thinking seems to be either all-in with everything, or you’re not really part of the club- you have to espouse ALL the stuff, and can’t disagree with any of it or you’re part of the problem and criticized, especially if you’re not part of one of the aggrieved groups.

Meanwhile on the other side of the aisle, it’s more like “Pick your viewpoint”- some people are only concerned with pro-life stuff, others with small government, others with low taxation, etc… without necessarily having a sort of common-core of thought. It exists, but one’s adherence to it isn’t nearly so harshly judged. I mean, if you’re a republican, because you’re christian and pro-life, and you show up, and donate and vote, nobody’s going to question your conservative chops because you aren’t a climate change denier or a free trade advocate.

But woe be it to the liberal who voices opposition to something; it’s treated like a serious betrayal.

Um…nope. As the rather vocal rift between the progressive Bernie wing and the centrist/establishment Clinton wing just demonstrated.

“We’ve got both kinds of music here - Country AND Western.”

…because they’ll happily accept money and votes from anyone and then do what they want regardless. That’s not being “inclusive”; that’s being “taken”.

Unless you’re a politician, of course, in which case if you dare to dissent from the party line you get labelled a RINO and a Tea Party candidate primaries you at the next election for not being ideologically pure enough.

To “something”? The left are notorious for circular firing squads; not only will they happily voice opposition to “things”, good luck finding much in the way of common ground.

Don’t really have time for a longer reply at the moment but this is the exact opposite of my experience. If you’re a conservative who disagrees with some aspect of their dogma you’d best keep quiet about it. Liberals can at least tolerate some disagreement even if they think you’re wrong.

So now you think these polls are rigged?

Do you know how these polls are taken?

Do you have an proof that he is intimidating the population?
