I don’t know; coming from you, it’s kind of disorienting. . .

As they say, Do Not Meddle In The Affairs Of Dragons, for You Are Crunchy And Taste Good With Soup.
Welcome to the boards all the same, Dragon Lady, whether you stay or not.
For future debates, I think the point you’re trying to make is “Data is not the plural of anecdote,” or “Anecdote is not the singular of data.” Anecdote isn’t the plural of anything. (OneCentStamp, back me up?)
(Looks around for the cryptic smiley and settles for

You might be right? I heard the phrase from someone else, and loved it, and have used it since. But since you’re the first to point that out, I think you’re right. It would be the first that I’m going for.

Yeah, well, we all have our moments where we just can’t hold back. ![]()
You should hear me in real life…it’s like every other word!
If you haven’t been able to keep up with a thread as relatively straightforward as this one, it’s probably not worth your time to stick around. It can’t be fun being the only one who doesn’t understand what’s going on.
For the record, this thread has been appallingly civil for the Pit. I almost feel as though I ought to start cussing just to make it more authentic.
I haven’t had any problems keeping up with this thread. It’s those two posts (since clarified) that I was having trouble with.
For what it’s worth, I wish I could stick around. I just can’t justify shelling out cash to participate in a forum, even one capable of holding decent debates. It’s been a long time since I’ve dealt with people capable of handling a direct flame without getting their knickers in a twist.
The only barrier to me staying is that little “not free” thing.
Oh dear God in heaven. My point was that I DIDN’T want to argue with you. And I don’t think you are an asshole, especially not over your opinions about feeding babies. Around here, if a thread seems to be getting hijacked in a direction that people don’t want to go, we generally just don’t go there. That’s what I was trying to do. If the subject is important enough to you that you really want to discuss it, usually people will start a new thread on that topic.
I direct you to my more recent post.
I’ve clarified that. It actually wouldn’t have turned into an argument, as in this case I actually agree with you.
It IS a myth that babies need bland food. The rest was a simple misunderstanding from a very poorly worded post on my part. That was a genuinely conversational post… I wasn’t trying to start anything on that subject, or imply that you were holding on to some myth. Honest.
Exactly what it says. I’m not implying that anyone else is pretending to be something they’re not. I’m simply saying that “I yam what I yam”.

If every WIC mother at Sarahfeena’s daycare uses RTF…
The most logical reason for the WIC mothers at Sarahfeena’s daycare to get RTF on their WIC check is not because of a global formula conspiracy, but simply because their daycare center specifies RTF, and so they have told their caseworker that their daycare will accept only RTF, and so the caseworker puts it right on their WIC voucher, “RTF”.
And the most logical reason why I’ve never rung anyone up for RTF on their WIC check at my store is probably because nobody works, in our neighborhood.

Well, my daycare center doesn’t request it, but I guess the recipients could conceivably tell their caseworker that it does.
RedheadDragynLady, if you want to join, I’ll be happy to sponsor your membership for a year. Just to show there’s no hard feelings.

I said that, too. Then she tells me she’s an “F-bomb conniseur”. Go figure.

That’s a very generous offer. ![]()
Tell you what. Let me hang around for a month (the trial membership ends on October 26, I think?) and I’ll get back to you on that. If I still want to be a participant, I’ll take you up on it.
If I stick with it for a month, I’ll stick around.

Bummer. I should have e-mailed you or something…I would have loved for you to have been there.
Platitudes, yay!
And the day I’m the last word on any subject is a very sad day indeed. Where’s the fun in that?
I’m a firm believer that every person should be responsible for their own medical care; taking the advice of a pediatrician is fine, but you should always be willing to do your own research and understand the risks.
Just because most kids are “fine” (I hate that term) doesn’t mean that their parents shouldn’t ever be advised that certain things may have risks. It’s still their decision, but at least then its an educated one.
Well gee, that was an eye-opener. Who knew we could actually do our own research? Thanks so much.

Ha ha! I try to act with a certain amount of decorum most of the time…but this IS the Pit, after all! We’re all entitled to a little cussin’ every once in a while, right? As far as real life goes…well, I try to minimize it when I’m around small children or my parents!

And I don’t wear the twin sets she pictured me in, either. At least, not too often!
