I quit smoking

A few weeks ago I found my stash of e-cigs laying around and decided to give them another try. I gradually decreased the amount of analogs cigarettes I was smoking and on Saturday stopped them altogether. Since then I’ve noticed a few changes:

  1. I would usually have an analog cig as soon as I woke up. This would kick start the whole going to the bathroom thing for me. The e-cigs don’t so this so I have to plan accordingly. The Sheldon Cooper in me does not like this.

  2. My wife and I are trying to have a kid. We gave it a go last night and I was pleasantly surprised (hopefully she was also). This I liked.

  3. When customers come into the store I can instantly pick out the smokers. Did I really smell like that? Ugh. My apologies to everyone.

  4. Money! I have more money in my wallet now. I take some satisfaction knowing that some of the money I used to spend on cigarettes is not going to the state of Illinois.

Anyway, I’m four days in and haven’t had a craving for an analog cig since I quit. I think it’s going to stick!

For other e-cig users, I’m rocking an Ego with a Kanger tank and 2 e-liquids–an apple-menthol mix and a cinnamon red hot flavor.

Good for you!

E-cigs may be in my future, but the ones I have tried are so heavy!! Did you find that to be the case?

My setup does not look like a traditional cigarette and is definitely heavier. After a few days of use I stopped noticing the weight. I tend to carry the e-cig around like Bob Dole carried a pen and it’s really not an issue. It’s also more comfortable to put the e-cig in my pocket instead of a pack or two of smokes and a lighter.

I’ve got mine on a lanyardaround my neck more often than not. (I take it off and leave it in the car when I’m in a patient’s home, unless I “forget” because I hope the resident smoker will ask me about it. )

Man, I keep hearing about these Kangers this month! I may just have to break down and try it. Why do these ecig threads always end up with me spending money on a new toy?! (Still cheaper than cigarettes…)

Excellent! And good luck with it. And congrats. And…and…

Congratulations. I quit 4 or 5 years after many attempts. Took me 2 rounds of Chantix. I admit to having a smoke now and again (like when I was on vacation) but don’t have much of a craving day to day. There are times I miss smoking but overall don’t miss it more than I miss it. I have thought about getting an e-cig for the times I miss it.
