i.Scription

The optical company Carl Zeiss has announced a new way for creating lenses for eyeglasses called i.Scription. Has anyone had their glasses made using this technique? Are the results as good as claimed? What does it cost?

An optometrist near me was one of the first in Europe to order the iProfiler machine. This is the apparatus used to measure the eyes so that the lenses can be made. The measurement takes just a few minutes and the total cost is just €50 more than what you would pay for regular lenses.

However, the optometrist talked me out of the iScription lenses because because my right eye has only 70% of its vision sharpness and I’ll probably be due for a cataract operation next year. He said I probably wouldn’t notice the difference and to save my money.

But from all the other accounts I have heard and read, people do see a marked increase in the sharpness of vision, especially at night.
