I think I may be on the brink of computer nirvana...

Dragon Dictate for Mac. (It already exists for PC, “Naturally Speaking” I think…)

It works. Seriously. IT WORKS. And it doesn’t just take dictation, it really truly lets you talk to your computer. AND IT WORKS.

I’m quivering with joy and anticipation while I work on the learning curve… oh man… this could change my whole life.

(It would under any circumstances, but about a year ago I developed significant repetitive stress injury in my right hand and while I did switch to a stylus, typing is tough and just using my hands all the time is the most frustrating thing about work and play on the computer. I just want to TELL it: Jump to Great Debates. And BE there. No muss, no fuss.)

The word you’re looking for is “nerdvana.”

Again, we edge closer to the Star Trek world.

Hey, that’s a world I’d live in.

Make it so.

Heh. What if Picard had to tell Riker that it was necessary for him to leave. Would he say,

“I have to go Number 1”?

I’m not writing much anymore, since I got a regular day-job. But, I have a copy of Dragon and it only took a day to get acclimated and get enough assignments done to pay for it. I really is a great bit of software.
