Where did the phrase “I think I threw up a little in my mouth” originate?
Hmmm, never saw Dodgeball. Wonder why it seemed so familiar to me - it’s doubtful I even saw the trailers.

I have to quibble with silenus–I have a distinct recollection of having heard Sophia from “The Golden Girls” say this phrase (I believe it was specifically “I think I just threw up a little in my mouth”), and that was certainly long before Dodgeball. Wouldn’t be surprised if it was one of those dastardly memes that defies any attempt to find its origin, though.

Let me asure that it was around well before that. I’ll poke around, but I think I recall seeing our own MissCreant saying it back in 2002 or earlier in response to some colorful comment.

Seriously, though, this was around a while before Dodgeball. I’ve always heard it as “That made me throw up a little,” 'cause when you think about it, “I threw up a little in my mouth” is sort of redundant.
And the phrase, “I threw up a little in my anus.” would just be too disturbing.
And inaccurate, seeing as how your anus would be throwing down!!

I dunno, it isn’t redundant really to me. It sort of evokes a feeling of (blech) throwing up but not actually out. There’s a specific meaning to “threw up a little in my mouth” in my opinion, separate from just throwing up.
I think the first time I heard a “mini throw up” joke was on Will & Grace, but Golden Girls would have that beat.

First time I heard it was on SNL. Matthew Broderick was the host, he was in a sketch where he played George Stephanopoulus on Barbara Walter’s The View. One of the questions George was asked was, “Which one of us would you most like to sleep with?” The thread title was his response.
It’s in Zoolander, if I recall correctly.

I seem to recall the line from a Woody Allen movie, circa “Play it again, Sam”.
I could be wildly mistaken, however.
Not really. The “in my mouth” part denotes that you were able to choke it back down. “I threw up a little,” implies that you actually expelled the vomit.
All this time, I thought it was a reference to acid reflux. Hmm.
