I thought I'd lost my little girl

Wow, Scylla, I can’t even begin to imagine what that must have felt like. While I don’t have children of my own, I have friends and cousins that do, so I am always around babies. Just imagining what that must feel like for a parent…actually I can’t even imagine.

You did an awesome job. I’m so relieved to hear that everyone is okay. And don’t forget about that trip to the beach!

I’m sitting here almost gibbering with fear and panic. I have two kids, and I can’t imagine a more heart-stopping moment.

In fact, I think that’s the one time a baby’s healthy scream will make you fall to your knees in utmost gratitude.

Good on big sister, good on you and your wife. My niece has had these seizures. Was Bug suffering from a bit of a cold when this happened? The doctor told my SIL to keep an eye on her daughter’s temperature during colds and stuff, and she will eventually outgrow it.

Scylla, that is one of the most terrifying stories I’ve ever read. I’m so glad your daughter is ok.

There’s nothing I can say that the board hasn’t already. I’m SO glad everything turned out okay.

And dammit, mom’s already taken the twins to daycare…I’ve got nothing to hug.

I’ll add another “way to go”! I can’t even imagine this happening to any of my small ones. I’m sure glad you are all still together.

I can’t believe you are even calm enough to put this all down here without breaking down. Thank the powers that be that Bug is okay. My offspring are grown but that doesn’t mean I don’t still worry about a sudden catastrophe. Heres to hoping you have some peace for then next, oh, forty years or so.

“Holy shit” is right. Ain’t nothing scarier than a child in distress. Halfway through your story I realized I wasn’t breathing either and couldn’t until I read that Bug was alright. What a huge sigh of relief to get to the end.

My nephew had two of these seizures when he was young. Scared the livin’ hell out of the entire family. You’ll be happy to know he’s fully recovered now, absolutely no repercussions or lingering ill effects and is both bright and a star athlete. I’m sure dear little Bug will prosper as well.

Damn, I’m always looking forward to hugging my kid but after this she’s about to get all squoze up.

Btw, that story was just to reassure you that “The pamphlet I have says that while serious, a febrile seizure isn’t really dangerous.” is in all likelyhood a valid assumption.

Bug’s gonna be okay.

Everything everybody else said–including the part about tearing up during the OP.

Incredibly happy to hear everyone’s okay, and Bug’s going to be fine. Big Sis totally deserves that Barbie Jeep, and I think you should get the Dream House, Scylla. I don’t have any kids, but I have many kids-by-proxy, and I don’t know if I’d be able to think half as clearly, should I find myself in the same situation.

Now sit back, relax, and enjoy your family. You deserve it.

I had a febrile seizure at 6 months. By the time I got to the hospital my fever had fallen to 107.

I’m fine. My mom swears that I’m smart because of that seizure, because soon after, I began to recite the alphabet to myself at night.

So, you’ll have a super-smart Bug! I’m glad everthing’s okay.

I know the site doesn’t have a better place to put this story, but something about the title of the forum bothers me. This story is neither mundane nor pointless.

Scylla, I’m glad to hear things are okay.

Occasionally things that are neither mundane nor pointless end up here. This is one of them.

I’m so glad she’s all right.

That physically made my stomach turn over while I read it. I’m so, so glad she’s okay, Scylla. a big, long hug :frowning:

I have tears in my eyes as I read this!

Your so right to praise your other daughter for saying somethng! What a great thing she did,.

And I am so happy things are turning out okay.

I cannot fathom what that must have been like.

Kudos for doing the best you could in a tough situation, and I hope you never have to deal with such again!

Man, just reading that sent chills up and down my spine. I have two little girls at home and that hits way too close to home. I’m trained in first aid and Adult CPR and I have previously been trained in child CPR but I had let that lapse. I had been entertaining the idea of refreshing my certification, but this OP cinched it. I’m going to look for classes this weekend. I’m glad she is OK now. Give her a big old hug for me and spoil her rotten.

Hells bells! I’m really glad everything’s turned out OK. And your older daughter is a real hero.

How old is your older daughter?

I’m glad your daughter is ok now, Scylla. Your oldest daughter is blessed with good common sense, I hope it continues to bloom. QtM’s words are wise, and I echo his sentiments.

My throat’s been aching since I read the thread title. If monstro’s post hadn’t made me laugh, I guess I’d be crying now. Good job, Scylla and daughter of Scylla!

It’s amazing how the lessons never end. I do the same - always take the time to make a point. Pleased to see I’m not the only one.

I’m freakin’ glad that your little one is OK, Scylla. Is this the “Plumbob Squarepants” child?
