I have a G-5 iMac running 10.4.4. My browser is Safari 2.0.3
My hard drive is 70+ Gigs using about 28 of them. I have 768 MB of memory.
Yesterday, I was playing a simple word game on line, and got a low memory alert.
It was on a site in direct competition with Shockwave. The alert told me to remove all plug-ins except theirs. They specificly mentioned removing Shockwave plug-ins.
Is this just their way of getting up on the competition?
I’d rather not dump the Shockwave plug-in, I use it fairly often.
What, if anything, should I do to make everyone happy? Can I even make everyone happy?
Heck, most of the time I can’t even make myself happy.
IANAMac Tech, but that sounds a LOT more like some kind of pop-up or exploit, rather than a genuine alert message issued by your system’s OS (which would not be so prescriptive, I would imagine). I think you’d be safe to ignore it, and boycott the site.
Oh, absolutely, it was generated by the website
The site is Pogo games. They have a few games i can’t find elsewhere, like live dominos. I’ve gotten too good anyway, no one will play with me.
I’m curious as to how this site is in competition with Shockwave; I visited it from a Windows PC using IE and although I couldn’t view any of the individual games without signing up, it doesn’t look like a potential competitior to Macromedia/Adobe - maybe the popup was an external advert?
