I wanna send something to James Lileks!

Those of you who are familiar with www.lileks.com or own a copy of The Gallery of Regrettable Food may remember his discourse on “Volume 10: Hot-Lan” of the Family Circle Illustrated Library of Cooking.

I found three more volumes of this series in a used bookstore today.

Volume 1: A-Bev
Volume 12: Pas-Pie
Volume 14: San-Sea

I want to send them to him, but I’m wondering how to go about it. I can’t get his e-mail from the site. I don’t have the “default mail client”, whatever that is. Can anyone help me out? He’s made the address public; it’s just that I can’t see it.

I could go ahead and send them unannounced, but in these paranoid times, I feel I should give him a heads-up. And I’d like to be sure he doesn’t already have these.

“Dear Mr. Lileks, I found three more volumes of the Family Circle series. Please accept them from a devoted fan.” Whaddya think?

Bless you, Alphagene!

If you run into that problem again - I assume the mailing address is a link, and you click on it and are told it can’t go through because you don’t have a default mail client specified - then just right-click on the link, and select “Properties” from the menu that pops up; the window you get then will have the address displayed. It’ll say “mailto:whatever@whatever.whatever”, and if you take the “mailto:” bit off, you’ve got your email address.

Assuming, of course, you’re running Windows.

D’oh! Thank you, racinchikki!

You could also probably mail him in care of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

He also registered here at one point, so he may be contacting YOU!!
