I want a Jacket made outta shark.

If I was able to have someone make a piece of clothing for me then that garment would have to be a shark jacket.
The shark in question could be either a Great white or a Tiger shark (not a sand tiger though).
The beast should have died of natural causes.

Just imagine it, a really hard wearing, waterproof jacket with a hood. Straigh cut and reaching down to just above the knees.
The buttons would be shark teeth, grinded and polished into little triangles.

It would be the utimate leather jacket (but made outta shark) with either the blue and white hard worn effect of JA//s or the cool-ass stripes of the tiger.

The skin would be buffed so there would’nt be as much of the coarse effect of shark skin in it’s normal form and the lining would either be silk or a nice high-quality warm cotton.

It will never happen, but if I saved a top designers kid from a car-crash or something, then that is what I would have them make for me in way of thanks.

This may be quite sick but anyway thats my choice, what would be your ultimate garment made to your specifications by an expert? I hear dolphin is quite nice

Swam - the problem is, no one would want to stand near you. You’r stink to high heaven!! Plus what would you treat the skin with. Leather is made from Hide not fish skin.

Is there no way to treat shark-skin then? If there is then I would obviously leave that to those who know. I was already aware that leather is not made of fish, but in my minds eye I kind of pictured there to be similarities.

You can make leather out of certain types of aquatic life, and the hides do tan out well. Take for example, eel skin. Makes awesome wallets, etc.

I have seen sharkskin boots, why not a jacket?

O

Now that I think about it, I saw motorcycle seats made out of shark. I don’t think it’s outrageously expensive, depending on what you consider outrageous. Like you could probably get one for a grand or so, I bet.

There’s an article here, http://www.abc.net.au/rural/wa/wafeatures-fishsharkskinleather.htm, about a firm in Western Australia named Mermaid Leather that specializes in fish and shark leather products. They seem to be making leather from shark skin that can be used for clothing–perhaps you could get in touch with them and see if they’d quote you a price for what you want.

I used to own a pair of sharkskin boots. It’s a tough skin. I wore them while working as a mechanic, and the grease and dirty oil wiped off without staining. The tops still looked good when the leather uppers finally wore out.

I’d buy another pair just like them, but they were tan and they only seem to make black and gray sharkskin nowadays.
