I want to write guest columns for Cecil’s Mailbag (or Staff Reports or whatever they’re called now). I’m reasonably knowledgeable on many subjects and on one subject I can legitimately be considered an expert (hell, I’ve written a (yet-unpublished but I’m hoping knock on wood) book on that subject). If any mods or administrators want to add another brain to the pool of brains to answer mailbag questions, send me an “e” and I’ll tell ya what I know.

Also, I think it’s time to add more moderators. The more heavily-travelled fora (IMHO, MPSIMS & GQ) could use at least 5 moderators each. Especially GQ; clearly moderating GQ lately has sent manhattan over the edge. Spread out the mods among different time zones so no one thread has a chance of being on the boards more than an hour or so before a mod catches it.

And if you decide to add more moderators, I know a guy (with about 1010 posts or so :smiley: ) who would love to moderate at IMHO.

On a serious note(I know, out of place here!), what are the qualifications of someone who writes a guest column for SD? There have been guest columns which were woefully underwritten, IMHO. I know,Cecil doesn’t have time and what can we expect from people who are workng for free?

Well, we can expect the Straight Dope, no less.

I want one too. I hereby volunteer to write about… uh, hell, what do I know about? Cars and car stereos, but dammit, who asks questions on that?!

I am currently available to write columns on Favourite Hollywood Movies of the Fifties and Their Influence on Bondage Fantasies of Middle-Aged Australian Gay Men.

I have a couple of other offers pending so suggest you don’t take too long in deciding.

Redboss Don’t you think that topic’s a little too broad??? Perhaps if you focused on only brunette actors or say Northern Australian left handed Gay Men.

Hmmmm, I know more than most sane people about computer science, cryptography/cryptanalysis, and The X Files. Could I write a guest column? That would be cool.
