I was watching the movie Jeepers Creepers and I noticed tha Darry was is good shape, but nothing terribly special. Then, I saw that his delts from a front view were quite remarkable. His other delt muscles weren’t similar in definition, so I am assuming that he is doing one exercise more than others. Can anybody tell me which exercise it is that pumps these muscles up out of proportion to the rest?
Thanks,
hh
I always thought military presses (vertical presses) and shrugs. But, there are some knowledgable lifters here.
I think big deltoids look stupid if you don’t have big shoulders. It can give the shoulders a “sloped” appearance which isn’t manly looking at all.
I’d assume that presses work the shoulders and delts simultaneously.
Military presses, as Trunk pointed out, are excellent. Also Arnie presses (yes, as in Arnold Schwarzenegger). These are modified military press with dumbells that add a twist on the traditional movement. Literally.
Push ups are traditionally a chest exercise but actually work many muscle groups quite well, including shoulders.
Curls are a good finishing exercise for shoulders. Particularly when alternated with standing rows (with a barbell).
Another excellent exercise is barbell raises with a relatively light weight. In a standing position, bar at thighs, one foot forward for balance, raise the bar in an arch with arms extended and elbows fairly straight until the bar is about 30 degrees from vertical. Lower. Repeat. As with all weight exercises, it’s a controlled motion. Arching your back and jerking your hips forward are a no-no. Adjust weight to avoid injury.
Good luck.
Yep.
I’ll echo the Arnie presses. That’s how he got his shoulders so damned big. They work rather nicely, as well.
