Hello again you crazy kids,
I was doing karaoke last night, and I realized that I really enjoy singing. I sing a lot, everyday and all day. I do my best to sing well. Lately I’ve even made a few dinky little songs. I come from a very musical family, so I can improvise and make up variations on things and am generally a somewhat talented guy.
So, I was daydreaming and wondering if I had the ability to actually be famous for singing. I like Japan so I was thinking, what the hell, why not do it there? I speak fluent Japanese, I’m Caucasian, and I’m not an ugly troll, so the marketing aspect seems feasible. I could call myself “Gaijin” and already have a cute little punny band-name.
I guess my question is, how do I know if I’m truly good enough to make it? And, If I decide I want to give it a try, how do I start? I’m clueless.
Your bud,
Auto
Man, I had some respect for you after your hilarious thread, and now you’ve just one and ruined it.
Just for that retort, if I ever succeed in producing a CD, you’re getting an easter egg put in that says “nyah nyah look at me now”
If you want to be an underground rock star:
-
Go to Tokyo.
-
Get a guitar, or someone who can play a guitar.
-
Go out on the street in any neighborhood that has street performers.
-
Go nuts (complete lack of self-consciousness is key here).
-
Gain a moderate following of teens who will follow your performances, buy your CDs and create fan websites.
Odds of success: 20-1
If you want to be a pop star:
-
Go to Tokyo.
-
Make yourself look like a 12-year-old
-
Look up a guy who calls himself “Johnny”.
-
Kneel down.
-
Close your eyes and think of England.
-
Become a star.
Odds of reaching step 5: 5-1
Odds of reaching step 6: 300-1
Note: this is all hypothetical. I’m certainly not claiming that the head of any actual major talent agency is a rampant child molester.
