I want to DL a Movie - Legally

Are there any sites out there that…

  1. …allow you to download one or more movies?
  2. …charge for individual DL’s, and not a subscription?
  3. …have a format that will play on my smart phone?

I don’t want a subscription service, because I don’t watch that many flicks. My tastes in movies are pretty eclectic, and I tend to enjoy the rather obscure ones. And I don’t want to do the pirate thing. I like to keep an above-board trail.

Is there any reputable site out there that allows such liberties?

What smart phone do you have?

I was going to recommend DVD Empire’s Video on Demand service, but it doesn’t look like their movies will play on a smart phone.

It does meet the first 2 of your criteria though.

I’ve downloaded movies from Amazon.com through their ‘Video on Demand’, which fits the first two of your criteria. However, I’ve just watched in on my computer.

This articleseems to state that you can do this.

It states: “The first article shows you how to watch movies via Amazon Unbox, Amazon’s video-on-demand movie service that lets you purchase or rent movies. An advantage of using Amazon is the ease of buying and adding videos to your device. You simply check the option in the Amazon Unbox Player to also download portable video files when downloading movies. Once it’s done downloading, you just tap the Transfer button to move it to your phone, with the option of putting it on the SD card.” (Note the link in this paragraph takes a while to load, but does eventually go to a page with instructions.)

If your smartphone is an iPhone, iTunes offers movies. Beyond that, I don’t know.
