Now that democrats had a good year in 2018, some states are discussing health reform again. If they have another good year in 2020 I’m sure more states will take up the fight too.
The governors in both Colorado & California campaigned on single payer, and both have democratic congresses. The governor of Colorado discussed an interstate compact between multiple states pushing single payer.
Governor of CA is also discussing using the state to negotiate Rx prices.
Nevada may pass a law allowing people to buy into medicaid (the congress there passed the law a couple years ago but the GOP governor vetoed it. Now they have a democratic governor). I believe Oregon and other states are looking into this too. Washington is pushing for a public option.
NYC is expanding health insurance to cover undocumented immigrants.
The governor of Connecticut is supposedly going to push various policy changes to reduce medical costs and medical inflation soon.
But I don’t know if there is a central blog or website where I can find out all this info. I just run across it on random websites. Is there a centralized blog I can read that has info about all these initiatives on the state, county or city level?
So much attention goes to federal health reform, but who knows if the democrats will win the senate and white house in 2020, and even if they do if they intend to actually use the power the voters give them. So I’m interested in more local health reform news.
