I heard part of an interview with someone running for congress as a Republican but who has been endorsed by Brand New Congress.
I looked at the linked website and it seems pretty good so far - especially that they want to provide Medicare for all.
from the platform at the link
in fact, it seems pretty progressive overall
- who cares what people call themselves, partywise, if they are willing to change things?
check it out, tell me what you think.
According to Wiki, “Brand New Congress”, was created by former staffers and supporters of Bernie Sanders. Their platforms progressive goals are:
It is indeed a political group originally started by Bernie Sanders supporters. As such, there is a tendency towards policies that would be considered progressive. That said, one of the core leanings is that career/establishment politicians tend to be corrupted due to monetary influences and do not adequately represent constituents. BNC tends to seek out candidates who are “ordinary people” of all stripes in the hopes that they will be more inclined to better represent their constituencies. Very similar to the Justice Democrats faction of the Democratic party in that regard and in fact, the two groups collaborate.
There was actually a small kerfuffle when the group announced they were endorsing a Republican, given the group’s leanings. But BNC leadership stood by the endorsement, stating: “On both sides of the aisle, people are frustrated by a lot of the same issues, and we want to approach these issues with solutions instead of partisanship.”
They have public orientation conference calls. If you’re curious, you can call into a meeting, listen to the BNC sales pitch, and ask questions of representatives about the organization (look for the ‘Join A Call’ link at the bottom of the home page).
yes, this is who I was listening to be interviewed - ROBB RYERSE, a republican in Arkansas.
thanks for the info Caldazar.
