And what they Do To ShaRon… O My!
I think its worse with Britains got Talent because not only do you have to get the reactions of 3 (or 4) judges & the audience but they also show Ant & Dec as well. The only point to that was during Andy the deluded dancer. Now that was funny! So some acts that had little or no screen time are at an even bigger disadvantage when competing against the Susan Boyle Phenom.
If you know simple, basic Matthew will already know the outcome.
The contestants are like Daniel in the lion’s den.
But that’s the judges’ Job. To see if the nervous people on stage are Abel to perform or deserve to be Cained.
Didn’t george Sampson win last year?
glad to see i wasn’t the only one who thought this was a bible thread
Jesus wept! It’s about talent shows!
It’s really too bad that this thread got hijacked by the punsters.
Because I wanted to say to the OP: Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I’ve had that same complaint since the beginning of AGT. It bugs the crap outa me. I hate the backstories and the backstage crap, and like others have said I just fastforward through that.
But during those very few minutes that they do actually devote to the actual performances, you can’t fast forward past the judges because it’s all in quick cuts; the camera work typically goes something like this: three seconds on the act, five seconds on one of the judges, two seconds on the act, four seconds on some random audience member, three seconds on a wide shot of the audience, five seconds on another judge, one second on the act, four seconds on the other judge, three seconds of some other random audience member, two seconds on the act, four seconds on all three judges . . .
If you actually sat down and added it all up, I’m sure that during the time the act was actually performing, you’d find that the camera was actually showing the act less than fifty percent of the time.
Someone should find a well-read TV blog and get this championed there. I’d do it, but since I’m apparently the last one to hear about the multiple Internets, it’s probably better left in more capable hands.
You forgot to make a pun.
The show isn’t about the acts. It’s a show about third-tier celebrities reacting to the acts and people overcoming adversity. Someone could try to put on a real talent show on network television, but I doubt the masses would watch it.
Slightly OT there used to be a visual puzzle programme where a picture illustrated a Catchphrase.
I used to watch it because I wanted to get the answers myself but it really infuriated me when the camera cut away from the puzzle to show the studio participants looking perplexed.
Like I could care less whether or not some boring nonentity who I’d never heard of could or could not reach the right solution.
Meanwhile I couldn’t play because there were no visual clues for the home audience.
