I was a model today! (and an apology to Canthearya)

wear that. So I did.
I attended an midwest hair show today. Canthearya, I tried emailing you but couldn’t because the mail wasn’t doing it’s thing. Sorrysorrysorry! Please email me so I can check my mail server.

Anyway, the gist of the show is that there are a lot of instructors teaching new things in color, cutting, and the like. Some teach in a separate classroom and some do it on the floor of a big room (along with a lot of others). There is also a huge room full of displays with new products to buy.

Last night after the show was over we went into the hotel bar and while we were there 2 instructors from the Tressa company came to our table and made small talk. Then they asked me if I’d be interested in being a model for their color/cut class! I jumped at the chance! They told me to meet them in the hotel lobby at 7 today and I asked them if I should have make-up on as they have a professional apply it for the show. They told me that mine was perfect and to wear that. So I did.
The man who cut my hair was cuuuute! He was so nice and had the cutest smile! He asked what I wanted him to do. I thought to myself, “Must…bite…tongue…” I told him to have fun and he could do anything he wanted (but no clipper!). So I got my hair colored before we went on stage. It was colored a dark red. Then it was showtime!

I was on stage with another model. She was getting highlights. I got my haircut. It’s shorter than I would normally wear it but I lovelovelove it! It flips up the back and is very texturized. The bangs are very fringe-y and the crown of my head has a lot of volume but is not spiky.

It was sooo much fun. The instructor (Jeff) was describing what he was going to do and why. He said that I have soft features, and “What I mean by tht is that she has beautiful round eyes and full pouty lips.” I blushed, right in front of everyone! Then he said, “Now, I have hard angular features, we’re opposite.” Then put his face next to mine and smiled and wiggled his eyebrows. I blushed again.

He described each step as he was doing it. He would give me a slight push when he wanted me to turn but I didn’t know it at first. I’m used to the haircutter moving the chair. He’d tease me about not being able to turn a chair then do it himself. When it was done he took my hand and I stood up in front of the audience and he turned me around and everybody clapped. Then the other model was done and her instructor did the same thing.

Then we got offstage and 2 more girls were done. When it was over we went back onstage and the instuctors told the audience to give us a hand. It was great! I’d do it again. in fact, I will. The man in charge of the show told me that his company comes to Eau Claire every couple of months and asked me if he could call me to model for them when they hit our town. I said I would.

Unfortunately, no pics were taken. None of us brought a camera because we didn’t expect this to happen. We just took took notes at each show. I did get my picture taken but they said it was for their records and I couldn’t have a picture. Darn!

But I’m adorable. (Notice the humility?) I can’t wait to do it again.

I got to be a model for my hairdresser once many years ago. It was a lot of fun, and an interesting peek into a world I didn’t know much about. I’d love to do it again!

Good for you! It sounds like you had a blast!

I get my hair cut at an Aveda Concept salon, they do a lot of teaching & product testing. Every once in a while, they will ask clients to be hair models. Also, they will have a special where you get your hair & makeup done, then have a pro shoot some pictures for you. Great around the holidays!

I’m glad you like your new look! Now go show it off, dahling!

It’s all good MaryAnnQ! I’m glad you had fun… So, when’s the wedding? Hee hee hee
