So I’m on my way home. I’m going through town, so the speed limit is 60. I’ve got 63 on the cruise control. I see two cars entering the freeway, so I moved into the open left lane. I noticed the person driving the #2 car was enormous, and appeared to be wearing a light blue checkered shirt with the sleeves cut off. I couldn’t tell if the driver was male or female. The car was a silver import, maybe a decade old.
The #1 car was not making 60 by the time s/he got onto the freeway, so I was overtaking. I saw movement to my right and thought I’d see what gender this person was (hey, it’s a boring drive), and #2 car was apparently going to try to make the car-length gap between me and the #1 car. That’s when I noticed #2 was almost halfway into my lane while directly abeam my position! I simultaneously laid on the horn, moved onto the left shoulder, and hit the brakes.
Catastrophe averted, I was annoyed but didn’t get all nutraged about it. I kept the silver car in sight though. A couple of miles later there were flashing lights behind me. Police. A little bit after he passed he turned his lights out. Then he turned them back on a short time later. Then there were more lights behind me. An unmarked car. And then more lights and a Sheriff. When I made it to the lights, there were at least those three law enforcement vehicles at the bottom of an exit surrounding the silver car.
