I was just approved for a Pennsylvania medical cannabis card

I love cartridges for the discretion they allow. I smoke a few bowls at home before we go out. Later, I can go to the brewery’s mens and take a few hits of my cartridge. No fuss, no muss, no overwhelming odor.

ETA: A meme I like points out that we used to go into the woods with a lookout to smoke a bowl. Now we sneak a hit on our pen in Target.

I got my card in the mail today. I thought it would take a lot longer.

Anytime you use your MMJ card, also have our PA Driver’s License handy, they may ask to see it and will turn you away if they ask and you don’t have it.

Some dispensaries will require you to meet with their pharmacist prior to first purchase, and also fill out their intake paperwork. Some dispensaries have their forms online. I printed out and completed forms for 4 dispensaries near me and the day my card arrived I made a purchase at each of the four.

Thanks. I assumed that they may want to see my license.

I found it interesting that the card has the same picture as my license. They must keep it on file.

I can’t find any online forms for the local dIspensary. I’ll see what happens when I get there.

What a pain the ass! I’ve been told that I’m “in the system” (I don’t know if that refers to the store’s database, or the State’s), so I only need to show my driver’s license (although it cracks me up that my medical card counts as a state issued photo ID if that is ever needed anywhere). And there’s no paperwork at the store.

In fact, at most places, you’ll get 50% off on your first purchase (although if you just want to get one thing, to try, they may let you “hold” your discount until you come back).

Oh, and at least in Colorado stores would usually give you a free “pre roll” on your birthday, so sign up for whatever loyalty program they offer.

ETA: even if you don’t smoke, you can always give the freebie away to a friend!

All done. No paperwork, and no one who struck me as a pharmacist. Some young guy asked me what I was looking for and suggested some drops. I get an over 60 discount and 25% off for first time purchase.

All very easy and hassle free.

We can’t have medical, or any other kind of pot in Nebraska. Gov. Pricketts says pot kills babies. I’m a dangerous scofflaw.

I hope that you enjoy your purchase (perhaps accompanied by some of your favorite music and a scrumptious meal)!

Now ponder how far we’ve come from your youth (or really, just a few decades ago) when this little transaction would have meant the end of civilization was nigh.

You mean “drugs, sex, and rock and roll”? (I was barely on the periphery of that scene, but I did love rock & roll.) Now, rock is the muzak of retirement homes, you can buy pot concentrates in a clean orderly storefront that has display cases of paraphernalia reminiscent of the merchandise displays in cellphone stores, and you can own stock in pot growers.

A symbol of rebellious youth is now one more product of the “capitalist pigs”, lol.

Totally incorrect. If you are between the ages of 18 and 21, you can’t buy legal weed but you can buy medical weed with a card. Also one of the taxes doesn’t have to be paid for medical purchases which will save a significant amount of money for heavy users. Finally, I had a medical card for years after legalization because there weren’t any recreational shops within an hour drive from my house and you even needed a card for home deliveries. This has since been rectified but there may be other counties where that is still true.

When I got my last card a few years ago, it cost $39 and I did the whole thing over the internet and then a quick phone call. The entire process took maybe twenty minutes at most. I got my physical card in the mail two days later but I got an immediate email which instantly allowed me to order an online delivery. I didn’t have to take anything to a “government office” whatever the hell that means nor did I have to pay anything extra to the government. Any records were transmitted online.

Keep in mind that each dispensary has its own vibe. You might want to stop at a few so that you can use any first time customer discounts and decide which dispensary suits you best.

It takes me months to go through one. I typically have one for so long that it gums up or breaks before I finish it. It’s $50 for a gram cart out here.

On a different but related topic, am I the only one who can’t tell the difference between indica and sativa? I take a toke and I’m stoned. Stoned is stoned to me. I believe people who can tell the difference but I definitely can’t. I buy carts based on flavor.

No !
Same for me, but luckily not much of a problem !

There are extreme indicas, like Afghani, that put me to sleep and extreme sativas like Durban Poison that make me fidgety, but most weed has characteristics of both.

Other than the 18-21 age gap for buying recreational vs medical, it’s absolutely true in Solano County. The laws changed after you got your card “a few years ago” with the passage of Prop 64. Get form filed out and signed by doctor, go to the country Department of Health (a government office) in person (online is not allowed) and pay $100 for a card that is only valid for one year. To me, it’s not worth it to save the state sales tax (7.75%) - the state says nothing about saving excise or local taxes, but it’s certainly possible that some delivery services or dispensaries might waive those to attract customers.

What you get for $39 online is a “recommendation” from a doc who’s probably employed by an online delivery service.

It must vary by county. I just checked my records and I got my last medical card in May of 2019. I had them for five or six years prior to that. I never had to go to a county office of any kind. My card had to be renewed every year. That was always the case.

Every medical dispensary in Santa Barbara County took the card that I got for $39. As you said, it was a recommendation from a doctor who was affiliated with a delivery service but the card could be used anywhere. I googled and there is some sort of additional card that you can get from the county but it’s not necessary.

Until sometime in 2019, there weren’t any recreational shops or delivery services in my area. A medical card was needed to buy legal weed. That still may be the case in some areas.

I usually can’t tell much difference, but I hate Durban Poison so much. I never tried to figure out why–I just told my purveyor no more of that shit.

I’m off work this week so it’s Wedding Cake to wake and bake. This should help enforce couch lock while I let a sprained finger recover.

Excellent choice!!

I like Durban Poison. It is a difficult plant to grow indoors, it stretches like crazy, creating a height challenge. Also, buds tend to be wispy, so you do not really get weight in return for all your effort. If I’m working around the house, DP is a great strain for me.

You’re just going to have to settle for the Cornhusker Special: a blend of meth and Roundup.

Oh, I still get my weed. It’s just that my choices are extremely limited. My guy hasn’t failed me yet I’m happy to say.
