Is there some sort of product that can get rid of the brown, grimy residue left behind by the sticker on my shirt? I don’t have the patience to pick it off, but I also don’t want to throw the shirt away. I Googled something about using an eraser, but that seems to only work on hard surfaces. I need to remove the sticker residue from a cotton shirt. I tried to rip it off with some tape, and that didn’t work.
I googled and found that Goo Gone was a pretty common suggestion. You may need Lestoil to remove the Goo Gone. This site has more answers: www.stretcher.com
Hmm, according to the internet, Goo Gone is “a combination of Citrus Power and scientific technology,” so I’m inclined to believe it works if there’s science involved. Seriously now, the stuff has good reviews on Amazon, so I’ll give it a whirl. If it doesn’t work, I quit. I’m lazy.
Something about dousing my shirt with kerosene is a little unsettling, but hell, if it works, it works. What’s this about finger nail polish remover? I’m talking about a black, cotton shirt here. That gets glue residue off? 'Cause I have some of that stuff at home already.
Naphtha, available cheaply in quarts in hardware stores is perfect for that. A can lasts a lifetime. Removes lots of stubborn stains on plastics as well, such as computer mice, keyboards and monitors and wastebaskets that are notorious for collecting stains.
Removes packing tape gum left on everything after a move. Nobody seems to realize that if you use packaging tape to keep file drawers shut the stuff will be impossible to peel off after a day or two.
Never bothers any colored material that I’ve used it on. Wash with soap immediately after to avoid creating a ring.
