I went to the Southwest and the general Four Corners vicinity, but I didn’t go to the actual Four Corners monument and stand in four states at once.
I went to the Virgin Islands, but…
I’ve never gambled in Vegas.
I’ve been to Vienna several times and even went out to the Prater, but never rode the gondola ferris wheel.
Spent five months on St. Thomas and never went in the water, let alone did any snorkeling.
Went to Vietnam, but didn’t shoot anyone.
Went to Berchtesgaden, Germany, but didn’t do the salt mine tour.
Spent five months in Cairo, but never rode a camel at the pyramids.
I went to London for 2 weeks and did not visit Big Ben or the palace. I lived in Los Angeles for 3 years and never visited the Chinese theater. I’m not a big fan of tourist spots. Saw many as a child and they were all more trouble than they were worth. If I’m visiting somewhere I am vastly more interested in how the locals live and the things they do than the tourist traps.
I visited San Francisco many times before I moved, and I’ve lived there for over six years now.
I’ve never ridden a cable car.
London and France. Didn’t see anyone’s underpants.
You must have gone there before the trend of wearing low rise jeans with a thong underneath took off.
Spent a great week in London, UK visiting tourist spots. Did not ride the London Eye. $35 for a half hour?! C’mon!
I went to Houston, but I didn’t visit the Rothko Chapel (and I *love *his stuff - but it was that or NASA…).
I’ve never taken the touristy gondola ride either in our 3 visits, but we went to the construction shop and actually helped paint one! Instead, we always took the traghetto. 50? eurocents and kids are free. Plus you get to stand up the whole time- way more authentically Venezian!
I lived in Chicago for 5 years and never went up the Sears Tower, NYC for 5 years and never went up the WTC (I went up the Empire State Building but I lived in Chicago at the time), and in Seattle 15 years and never been in the Space Needle.
I’m hard pressed to think of the most outstanding touristy item that I haven’t gone to in a destination- maybe going to Berlin and not seeing Brandenberg Gate or the Berlin Wall. Oh, I’ve got it, I’ve been to Amsterdam ~10 times and you would have to pay me $1000 to go to the Anne Frank house. Absolutely no interest. That story is real enough to me already.
Went to Honolulu, didn’t go to the beach.
A friend of mine got married there about 20 years ago. That’s the only reason I went; I’ve never had any interest in visiting Hawaii.
He got married at a club that was featured on Magnum, P.I., which is close to the water… the sand was on the other side of a retaining wall from the wedding. That’s as close to the beach as I got while I was there.
Lived in southern CA most of my life, but have never been to San Francisco, Las Vegas or Catalina Island.
(But, I have managed to get to Everest Base Camp, the Taj Mahal, Bali, Rangoon and a few other places, so I’m not actually a homebody.)
Another ‘went to Venice, didn’t ride a gondola’ person.
Been to Chicago without ordering a hot dog.
Been to Vegas without going in a casino.
Been to Pigeon Forge several times, but haven’t been to Dollywood.
For next time, we do have a brew pub here in Boulder City… not the best food in town but not horrible. You can always drink in the beer garden and eat somewhere else. But if you fail to visit the dam, you can come back to this thread and post that was what you didn’t do.
I went to Orlando but didn’t go to Gatorland.
Likewise, and I didn’t go to the Van Gogh Museum either.
I’ve been to Paris five times and Rome once, but never visited the catacombs.
I’ve been in Lady Liberty’s crown several times but never Central Park.
We’ve driven by the Basketball Hall of Fame a few times but never went in.
