I went to __, but I didn't __

I went to college, but I didn’t go to class.

So many places with so little done!

Modesto CA but skipping the Gallo winery. Long Beach without the Queen Mary. Naples without Vesuvio. NYC sans Empire State Bldg, Bronx Zoo, or WTC (it was there then). Pismo Beach without digging clams. Oahu but not Diamond Head. Dallas but not Dealey Plaza. Rachel NV (Area 51) without alien probes. Santa Fe NM except Loreto Chapel. Zacatecas but not the mummies. Quebec but not the walled city. Seattle but no Space Needle. Nashville without the Opry. Silly me!

I try not to miss astronomical observatories.

You’ll never find that recipe again. Not even on Blue Jay Way.

I lived in Seattle for several years and have visited there numerous times but I have never been to the top of the Space Needle.

Leave the cake inside.

Smart choice.

I live in Italy and have been to Rome many times, but have never visited the Vatican. I’m sure it’s beautiful but I hate queuing and Rome is just full of amazing art and places.

I’ve been to Dublin many times and have never toured Guiness or seen the Book of Kells at Trinity.

I went to the Isle of Man but didn’t race in the TT Race.

(though I did rent a motorcycle and ride the 37 mile course and around the island).

I went to Lisbon, but I didn’t do heroin. I fielded a hell of a lot of offers for heroin (and just about anything else you can think of), but I declined them all.

I had a very brief layover in Vegas once, like half an hour. I only had enough time and cash to do one thing, and my choices were between sticking my $3 in a slot machine or hit Taco Bell. I went with the tacos. I think I made the right decision.

I’ve been to Florida, and even been to Orlando, but didn’t set foot in a theme park.

I’ve been to Philadelphia but saw neither of the “Rocky” steps, or the Liberty Bell.

I’ve been to Philly as well and we saw the rocky steps but just sat on them figuring out what to see next rather than ogle them or run up them.

Hell, I lived in Philly and never saw either. I tried once to see the Bell, but kept hitting “one way-do not enter” streets. I got frustrated and went home (Lansdowne).

Lived in the Kansas City area most of my life.
Never have stood on the corner of 12th street and Vine

…actually I believe nobody has done this as 12th and Vine do not intersect.

This was going to be my response as well.

I stayed in a hotel probably 150 feet from the Liberty Bell and never went to have a look.

I went to Memphis and didn’t go to Graceland. I’m not that much of a fan and it cost too much.

I’ve lived in Northern California since 2005. I still haven’t traveled to Los Angeles or San Diego, with the exception of a few layovers at LAX. The farthest south I’ve been in CA is Santa Barbara.

And I too have traveled to some far away places – Australia, eastern Africa, and I just returned from Greece a few weeks ago. I think a big part of it is that traveling to another city in in California for vacation just feels “too close” and not very exotic or interesting as a vacation destination.

They once did, and the site is now marked with a street sign and some artwork acknowledging the song lyric. It’s not spectacular, but it’s kind of cool.

I had no idea that was a tourist bucket list item.
