Or, to put it more accurately: If you could instantly become a total expert in any single field or area, what would it be? If it is historical, you know what the day-to-day life of an average well-educated person was like so that you can speak knowedgebly about that time. In short, you know everything up to right now about all of the subtlies and nuances of a chosen subject. And no, abstract questions like "Is there a “God?” don’t count, though you would know all of the theology.
I wish I knew how to get my sorry rear end (and the rest of me) a good job. Like, something that pays better and gets more respect than being an intro TA, which is what I’ve been doing for the last few years. Unfortunately, I have no marketable skills or experience whatsoever.
I wish I knew and was an expert in being emotionally healthy and having awesome relationships. I would use this expertise to be happy and have a perfectly functioning family.
Either maths or physics. Or maybe I’d compromise with ‘applied maths’ or ‘theoretical physics’. I actually studied physics at uni. Didn’t do too well .
As for what I’d do with it… work out THE ANSWER TO IT ALL.
Well, since musical ability is taken, I think I’d like to know every European language. Yup. I have no idea what I’d do with the knowledge, since I don’t plan to go to Europe, at least not often. But it would be neat.
Heh. I wish I new all about veterinary medicine. I’d have loved to go into the field but I just have no room in my life for vet school, and probably don’t have what it takes to get there, time and energy wise. I just don’t have the dedication, or the money, and my priorities are way elsewhere, anyway.
But if I could instantly be an expert in the field? I’d happily start practicing tomorrow.
Advanced Calculus, Electrical Engineering, and the art of Entrepreneurship. This whole “effort” thing is starting to get on my nerves.
What would I do with it? Rack up about half a dozen patents in a year, retire with my billions, and spend the rest of my life posting 50 times a day here about how everyone else in the world is an idiot except for me.
Now if you excuse me, I have to get back to figuring out basic trig while crying to myself about misspent youth.
Politics - I’m too opinionated and too naive right now if I was good enough at it I would get some things changed around here Not sure I would enjoy it, though.
Cooking - I can cook, but I’d love to know everything. I’d write cookbooks for a living
I guess I’d go for cooking. Politics is way too much work.
Everything.
Yeah, it’s not possible, but it my goal. I once heard a saying about how you can’t achieve all that is possible without attempting the impossible.
