These catastrophes make a great argument both for and against capital punishment. The argument for capital punishment for the pricks that did this is great. The argument against it is because I wish McVeigh was able to see all this.
If McVeigh were alive, and hearing about what’s going on, he would know that for the rest of history his name would be tied to the names of international extremists. McVeigh being the racist that he was would have to live with that while he rotted in jail for the rest of his life.
Hello Digman- I noticed you called Tim McVeigh a racist. Why do you call him that? I did’nt see McVeigh commit one racist act.
Also, do you think the word “racist” is the worst epithet there is? Why do you think so?
Well, I wish he was alive, too, but not so I could preach him a sermon about racism. I’d want him to see what pretty small potatoes his little stunt has suddenly turned out to be. All those people dead, and for nothing, Tim. Suddenly you’re a piker. Too bad.
I don’t think he’d give a rat’s derriere if his name was tied to the names of international extremists. Fact, I think he’d be tickled pink to be lumped in with “pros” like Bin Laden. “An honor, sir…”
No, I much prefer to think of him fuming in his cell over the way he suddenly got bumped down the “Worst Terrorist Attacks” list to Number 2.
And unlike Avis, he wouldn’t be able to try harder.
Maybe beacuse he was inspired by the *Turner Dairies *?
Is there is one epithet worse than “racist” I can think of?
Yes I can. How about “dumbfuck”?
That’s you Gene…
Hello Raimest- Just because Tim read the Turner Diaries does’nt make him a racist. The novel mostly concerns itself with liberal Jewish policies. Can you name ONE racist act that Tim ever performed?
Also, I’d have more respect for you if you’d have the balls to debate me instead of calling me names.
For some reason, people on this board seem to think that “racist” is the worst word they can call someone. I wonder why. Theres lots of worse things in the world than racism.
Hey Genie, why do I call him a racist? How about because he associated himself with ultra right-wing groups, racists, and their ideals. Also as previously mentioned, he was inspired by the Turner Diaries, and was perhaps emulating the book in his bombing. He might have been hoping to start some kind of “race war.”
And I don’t think you are in any position to grill me over this, considering you seem to be on thin ice around here considering the paranoia, hate, and racism that regularly make appearances in your posts.
I’m with Stoner on this. McVeigh was never demonstrated as a racist. Clearly he was associated with groups that may have had racist policies, but in his own statements and actions he never targeted any race. In fact, his extreme sympathy for the dead at Waco is a bit anti-racist, since several of the burn victims there were non-white.
Not defending McVeigh here, not a whit. They guy was a terrorist and a murderer. But no provably a racist one. And I do think that “racist” as a pretty bad thing to be called. But I can think of worse: like “child rapist” maybe?
And Dignan, I wish Tim were alive as well, for the reasons you stated. To be associated with this kind of horror would be something he deserved. Best of all it would confuse his political stance, since he’s all against the govenment taking charge of things. What would/could his militia folk have done to prevent this?
Absolutely I wish he were alive. I’d love dearly for him to know that he was being lumped together with anti-american terrorists. McVeigh thought he was a patriot. He thought he was going to stir up a call of arms among the American people. He thought he was making a strike for freedom (or some other misguided, poorly expressed value). Timmothy McVeigh went to his well deserved grave thinking he was the final word in American martyrdom. Now he’s being considered in the same breath with the ultimate anti-American terrorist. How well do you imagine that would have sat with our favorite, all-American, building-leveling, bomb-nut?
And worse than racism? How about any sort of systimatic program of hate? I’ve asked it before and I’ll ask it again… what good does hating do for anyone? I hate you and your family, so I hurt you or even kill you. Now I’ve created an atmosphere of fear and suffering. I’ve made a stand for my own kind, but now everyone is afraid - your kind and my kind. Everyone’s suffering will continue and probably increase. No one is happy or secure. And this is good for anyone how?
Yeah, naive, I know. But I really think it’s that basic. If you hate, you only make things worse for yourself.
