Ice Cream Truck Stop Signs

Are the Stop, if safe proceed signs on the icecream truck legally binding?

Personally, I have no problem with them since I really want to avoid running over some kid eating a snow cone, but can you get a ticket for not coming to a complete stop?
And while we are at it, what about stop signs in large private parking lots? Can you get a ticket for running those? If so, are there any rules on who can throw up stop signs?

There was a thread a while back that provided citations for the fact that stop signs on private property are not legally binding. Don’t know about ice cream trucks. Sounds like good advice, even if it’s not legally binding.

I think if the lot security gets you, they are allowed to rough you up, but if you make it outide the perimeter, they have to drive sadly away.

I can also tell you this - I have a stop sign that used to be on the corner of Some Street, USA and is now on my wall. The problem’s not so much putting it up, but enforcing it. Nobody has ever come to a complete stop at that thing, let alone yield the proper right of way. Not even that time I made my roommate put on a uniform and hand out citations…

When I learned to drive the driver’s manual had a section titled “Frozen Dessert Trucks,” but I don’t remember what it said there. I could look it up, but I’m at work right now. Try the website for your state’s DMV - they should have a copy of the manual online.
