I doubt if there was much thinking going on. In a high stress, panic situation, the lower brain may take over and higher brain functions may be blocked. It’s that fight-or-flight response. If he could have thought enough to fake jumping out of the way, he likely would have thought enough not to shoot her in the first place. But likely what happened in his brain was basically thinking “Car moving. Car going to hit me. Shoot driver to stop car.” If he was calmer, he would have been able to see the car posed no risk as it was safely turning away from him. One way to prevent that fight-or-flight response is through training in similar high stress environments. This adapts the brain to not panic in these situations and be able to think clearly rather than have primitive behaviors take over. But since ICE agents end up on raids with basically no training, they easily get into that panic state and make poor decisions.
And this is why police have training.
Something these ICE goons seems to utterly lack. It is all lizard brain for them. Or sitting on the couch in mom’s basement playing Call of Duty brain. That seems more likely since most of them were probably doing exactly that a few months ago.
Some interesting statistics from DHS’ own website:
- The most common cause of death for ICE agents since the agency was founded is covid
- #2 is cancer, which along with covid accounts for 75% of all agent fatalities
- The last agent to be killed in the line of duty was shot by his own gun after he dropped it
- The last agent to die while apprehending an immigrant died of a heart attack while running
- Only two agents have ever been shot dead by other people
- Only one agent has died from being hit with a car, having been struck by a drunk driver
- No agent has ever been killed by an immigrant
Seems I am not the only one to think something similar. ICE is hiring loser thugs/bullies.
Just got back from a rally and march in my city of 50,000 a couple miles from the Minnesota border. It was well attended, considering the cold weather and the short notice. I was moved by the signs, the chants, the sincere anger and resolve, and the honking support of 90% of those driving by.
We had a rally against ICE and a candlelight vigil for Renee Good yesterday in Marblehead, MA, attended by 250 people (actual count, not estimate).
Indivisible chapters around the country have held over 1,100 such peaceful “ICE Out For Good” rallies yesterday and today.
It has just come to my attention that the much-vauntdd $50k signing bonus these chuds are being drawn in with doesn’t pay out until after five years in service.
These idiots are never gonna see a dime.

If true, this is astonishing. Given the reported poor literacy skills of the applicants, it seems likely they’ll never even know.

That’s another worry, though: what will these losers do when they realize they’re not going to see that $50K for five years, if at all? Noem, Vance et al seem to imply that they can work out their frustrations by slaughtering Americans. ABSOLUTE IMMUNITY!!!
Here’s one cite, but it says that the “signing and retention bonus” is paid at $10,000 per year, and is payable over five years. If you aren’t there on year five, you apparently don’t get the full $50k:

And in states like California, where an employment ad shows a pay range of $49,000-$89,000 for ICE deportation officers, cops can make about the same amount working in their own communities.
It looked like that guy had a lot of padding, though.
In my experience, these bonuses often carry a significant tax burden, as well. So maybe 6K a year unless you give Trump an excuse to stiff you.
I believe it should be taxed as regular income (but I could be wrong). Maybe the annual $10k extra will push them into a higher income bracket.
I meant to add that the most moving part was a moment of silence as the names were read of those killed by ICE in the past year. There were about 25 names.
As has been said, not original with me, this is probably just what set him off. She was supposed to be scared of him. She was supposed to cower and cry. She did not.
She was strong. And this infuriates the bully. He felt emasculated. He got angry. So he shot and killed her.
Because they were not thinking of this narrative at the time. They knew they were in no danger whatsoever from the vehicle. They (and particularly the shooter) were thinking “fucking bitch did not respect my authority. She’s not afraid of me. I’ll fucking show her!”

What’s the story on his personal cell phone video? Why in the world would he release such damning evidence? I mean, who wouldn’t seek to destroy proof that they were a murderer?
Vance has made it explicit that ICE can murder people at will. So they don’t fear releasing damning video. They want protesters to fear them and stay hidden.
