ID Jerry Orbach in 'Guys and Dolls' (1955)

I, and others as well, believe that this is Jerry Orbach in the chair shaking Sinatra’s hand. IMDB list managers have been leery of adding this credit, though, I suppose because it’s three years before his first credited role. Orbach is uncredited in this movie, and no one is credited in this role.

Whacha think?

Right after this scene, one “singing” barber is played by none other than Harry Wilson. I remember him most as one of the two thugs from “Some Like It Hot,” the other being Mike Mazurki. I think the casting called for the ugliest, bulkiest actors available, and they did a pretty good job with those two.

Sure looks like him.

Looks and sounds like him to me.

Definitely.

I would say definitely yes…and I am embarrassed to say that despite having seen that movie maybe 25 times, I have never realized before that that was Jerry. Dang.

The lopsided grin did it for me. Definitely him.

Agreed. And I never knew that before. I love the Dope!

I feel as if I learned that was Jerry Orbach when one of the yakkety yak guys introducing the movie on AMC said it was.

Call me a believer.

I’d say yes. BTW, according to the Internet Broadway Database, Jerry Orbach was involved in the 1965 revival playing Sky Masterson, which, of course, was long after this film was made. I would have loved to have seen him in that part.
