I'd like to buy someone a pair of Enchroma glasses.

Orange, but not a bright orange. More like a burnt orange that the University of Texas wears.
Pink
Green
Yellow
Black
Light blue
Royal Blue

On my monitor at least.

I have normal colour vision, and there was a time when a lot of cars were painted with a metallic colour that I couldn’t really tell if it was green, gold, or bronze.

Those boxes are all blue on Windows Firefox, and orange on Android Tapatalk.

Yes, like the 1976 CIELUV or other color spaces that attempt to be uniform. I recall Adobe or someone had a page with the ellipses on there, but I’m having trouble finding it now. This page (scroll all the way down) has something similar.

Thankfully we live in an era where we are all past that now.

Acsenray - Did you try the Enchroma glasses yet?

StG

I’ve just been informed that delivery is forthcoming. I’ll post with further developments.

So excited!!!

Yep I posted them today, so you should get them soon (before Christmas, I hope).

It was an experience I won’t forget. It’s funny to think that the glasses let my brain see colors that my eyes are not capable of seeing, and I can still remember the colors. That’s a bit brain-trippy.

You da man Nars!

I’m so glad that you got to enjoy them. Let’s hope that Acsenray has similar results. If he’s the kind to celebrate Christmas, seeing all the different colors of wrapped presents might be pretty trippy as well.

I think it took two weeks to get them from Oklahoma to Japan and I’d guess that it’s just about the same to get them back over here. Keep your eyes peeled Acsenray, color is headed your way.

I just want to let the folks know that I have received the glasses (thanks, Isamu!). There was a bit of a delay because of the confusion of receiving an international package–I had to go to three different post offices before I found the one that had it!

I was planning a big reveal for my first try–perfect outdoor, bright light setting with lots of vegetation. Unfortunately, it’s grey and dim winter here, and there is little vegetation.

Out of impatience, I finally broke open the package at my desk and tried the glasses on with Google Maps, and some colorblindness test images on my computer screen. Sad to say, no noticeable effect there. But, as has been stressed before, the glasses are supposed to work best outdoors in bright sunlight. So, I’ll have to go back to my original plan.

I’m a little impatient with the season of the year and the weather here right now.

Thanks again to Nars for this opportunity. I shall post with further updates. If anyone has any suggestions for me, please post!

If you have a color printer available, you might try printing the test images and see if you can see a difference. It worked for Isamu. Or if you have some kind of colorful “coffee table” book, they might work on it.

I apologize to everyone in this thread, especially Nars, for not updating this more often now that I have the glasses.

I’m on the verge of heartbreak here. I’ve had very high hopes that this was going to change my color perception, but I have tried them a few times now—including a few hours ago—and I’m not sure they’re making a discernible difference for me.

Of course, it’s grey and overcast here, and all the plant life is in winter mode, but I don’t know if all you folks deserve to have me keeping you waiting until springtime for me to keep it until then to try it out.

Remind me where I can find the test images?

You don’t owe anyone an apology so don’t worry about that. As for how long to keep them, it doesn’t matter at all to me. My only concern is that you spend the next couple of months with your hopes up only to find that they don’t work.

Why don’t you try printing the images on this page A Color Blindness Test For Offset Printers and if you see a difference, keep the glasses until spring. If you don’t see anything, we’ll send them on to the next person, if there is one. Also, remember that the effect isn’t immediate on everyone. Try leaving them on for as long as you can before giving up.

But ultimately, it’s your decision. Do want you want with them. In my original plan, I never intended to get them back.

You’re very generous and kind. I’ll try to get to a color printer.

It’s true I’ve only worn them a few minutes at a time so maybe I need more patience.

If that’s an issue for you, PM me your address and I’ll send you some. I have access to several.

You weren’t the only one. I worked for a Volvo dealer during that time and it was fun to read through the service files on cars of that color; the service advisors all called it something different. Brown, rust, copper, gold, beige, etc. I tended toward metallic brown but nobody else wanted to write that much (this was pre-computers).

I’m sorry the glasses didn’t work for you, Acsenray. This whole exercise has been fascinating; thanks for doing this, Nars Glinley. I hope these glasses can keep on moving around the world.

I was just on the phone with the help desk at EnChroma and it seems I really need to spend a lot more time wearing them to get my eyes adjusted to them. I don’t spend a lot of time outdoors, but I’ll try to wear them more over the weekend, and then try to keep them on all day at work on Monday.

Any luck?

Okay, so I’ve spent several hours a day wearing these the majority of the days over the last week, and I think I have to give up.

Granted, I’ve spent a relatively small portion of that time outdoors (It’s freezing here!), but I’ve got the dot-pattern tests tacked up above my monitor, and I still only see one of them at all.

Strangely enough, to the extent, I’m getting any effect at all is enhanced reds, blues, and yellows, but zero noticeable change in greens, which exactly the opposite of what it’s supposed to do, right?

Thanks, Nars, for the opportunity and thanks, Isamu, for shipping them. I appreciate the chance to try these out. Who’s next?
