No pics, sorry. It might have been a persimmon or a plum. It had a taste and texture similar to them. I think it was maybe orange-ish in color, and it was about the size of a plum. I think there was one seed that was mostly flattish.
Anyone???

My personal guess would be some variety of sapote.
I enjoyed Colombian food when I visited there.
I was going to say, maybe sapote or tamarillo Tamarillo - Wikipedia
I suspect based on the info it might have been some kind of sapote. I remembered that you twisted the fruit and scooped out the insides. The flesh was apparently inedible. I said “one” seed, but I did not eat a whole fruite, just part of one.
Hmmmm… That fits a sapote… but also…
What were the insides like?
There’s the “zapote negro”, which IS a kind of *black *persimmon found in jungly places from southern Mexico to the Amazon. Tastes just like a “normal” orange persimmon, too, and has that same slightly slimy texture to the fruit.
The regular sapote, “chicozapote”, is more of a brown color, and is not related to the persimmon. It’s the tree we get chicle gum from. Its fruit is sweet and slightly grainy, like a pear’s.
From Google Images, this looks like it might be it. It did have a somewhat grainy texture.
