This is from the “Night Gallery” vignette ‘Rare Objects,’ featuring Raymond Massey and Mickey Rooney, if you can find a better image quality online.
Pic.
At first i thought it could be a Rembrandt, but a quick search for “Rembrandt old man beard” took me to this picture from Irish painter Govert Flinck: “Head of an Old Man”.
Arachnid was right at the beginning. It is Rembrandt.
Rembrandt painted all the “artwork” on “Night Gallery.” Except, “House…With Ghost.”
Thanks!
So how much did they pay him?
Seriously, I hope they cut a deal with his estate. I’m getting way too tired of “artists” lifting work, or as one of my clients said “You can take this painting I found and just change a little bit and a little bit more until I won’t get sued, right?” “Well, first of all, it’d be me getting sued…”
Rembrandt’d been dead for 300 years at that point… I think arguments for it not being in the Public Domain are pretty weak.
They would, but anything goes in the Night Gallery.
OK, help us out with exactly what this is supposed to mean. Tom Wright did almost all of the gallery paintings for the series.
Obligatory Silver Streak reference.
