I recall it as somewhat similar to “Independence Day.” The main thing I remember is the aliens deployed these autonomous flying portable band saws.

) Similar device, but in the unknown movie, they flew and (I think) controlled by bigger ships.
When you say SyFy you mean the cable channel, right? Because I seem to remember something like that in one of the Marvel superhero movies (maybe Avengers: Infinity War?) but that’s probably not it if you’re looking for a TV movie.
Pretty sure it was SyFy. That’s about the only channel I watch that has direct-to-video sci-fi movies.
