Idea: Junk food ads should be banned from using skinny people

And there are no speech implications here. Nope, none.

That ad should have been banned because I never once found a coke with my name on it.

Even this one?

Another type of advertisement that frost my gourd is put out by the multitudinous Indian casinos we have around here. They are always showing beautiful people jumping and clapping and smiling and laughing just after winning something, usually big. They never show anybody just after they’ve lost their whole social security or pension check.

I’m pretty skinny and I eat enough junk food for about 3 people. I’m one of those people that can open up a thing of cookies and be done with them by the end of the night. I probably eat more crap food than good food. I get comments like “I can’t believe your teeth haven’t rotted out of your head”* or “it’s gonna catch up with you someday” or “you must have the metabolism of a chipmunk”. Most of the side of the family that I took after is pretty lean though, I think I’m just lucky. I was skin and bones through high school and have filled out a bit as I got into my late 20’s and 30’s. I was 120 in high school and at 34 I think I’m 140. I’ve always been one of those people that can’t put on weight if I try, I can also eat really really ‘good for you food’ and not lose weight. /QUOTE]

That could change, because I think you’re me 22 years ago. At 29 my weight fluctuated from 125 to 130. I wore pants with a 29 inch waist. At 34 my weight started creeping up. At just short of 56 I eat far less junk food than I did in my 20s, but I weigh about 60 pounds more.

So in addition to being overweight, fat people are dumb? Thinking that drinking a sugar laden product will make them thin? Being a few dozen pounds overweight myself, I know what causes it and it ain’t the one or two cans of soda a month I consume. And I know that drinking more Cokes won’t help.
