Identify some lines of poetry for me

This is a somewhat odd request, but then the Teeming Millions collectively know just about everything, so I guess it’s worth a shot.

Does anyone recognise lines that go something like this: ‘You saw what I was/ You see what I am/ Change me, change me’. I don’t remember them exactly. I read them somewhere, and I’ve completely forgotten which poet and which poem. But the gist of the words themselves are stuck in my head, like some weird mnemonic. It’s driving me mad.

Is it *The Woman at the Washington Zoo * by Randall Jarrell?

This it?

Whoa. Two correct responses in (I think) under an hour. My faith in the Teeming Millions is justified!

Thank you, both
